____________________________________ Backstory Iambic started out as a small structure in the center of the crypt in the middle of the summer. That structure is now what you see as top red. That structure was then extended to what is now the main blue room (blue start). After that, the project was abandoned for a good month. Then one day in early August, I was going through my list of Sandbox maps on my hard drive and found a project titled "secret 068". I loaded it up and, realizing how much potential it had, worked on the map for a few hours. After that, I felt obliged to finish it because I had gotten so far in the map. Over the course of the next few weeks, I did just that. Then, in early September, I finished the beta version of the map, and thus began the testing. Testing lasted around a month and a half, during which time Iambic went through many changes regarding the layout of the map, lines of sight, spawns, weapon layout, and even aesthetics. The one major change to the layout of the map that was made was the addition of the tunnel that connects green with bottom red. ____________________________________ Map Description Iambic is a purely asymmetric MLG map designed for teams of 2v2-3v3. The map is based around multiple atria and promotes movement from room to room. It is set up to play the four official version 7 MLG gametypes, of which, MLG King excels. King King of the Hill is one of the slower of the gametypes that Iambic is compatible with. The three hills are set to rotate around the map. The first hill is at top red, second right next to green, and the third is located under the bridge separating red start from middle blue room. The three hills are open to a lot of fire from multiple places around the map, yet they are very possible to control with the right set-up. Team Slayer Team Slayer is probably the fastest-paced gametype, reason being that constant movement is required to achieve victory. A key area to control in Team Slayer is top red, but other areas on the map will prove to be very advantageous to control. Flag Capture the Flag is also a fast-paced gametype on Iambic, being that each team is constantly trying to penetrate the other teams defenses and get to their flag. There are many routes that a flag-carrier could take, some with a higher risk factor than others. There is considerable balance among which routes are the fastest and which routes provide the most cover and protection. Oddball Oddball is a very slow-paced gametype and is not recommended as much as the other three gametypes. Nevertheless, Iambic is compatible with Oddball and can be fun when played with the right people. ____________________________________ Weapon Layout SRS 99D AM Sniper Rifle The sniper is located at the end of the small hallway next to top red. It respawns every 180 seconds and contains one spare clip for a total of eight shots. M41 MAV/AW Rocket Launcher The rocket launcher is located on blue bridge. It respawns every 150 seconds and contains no spare clips for a total of two shots. [Type-52 Pistol] Mauler There are two maulers on the map. Each one is located a couple steps from each teams start. They respawn every 150 seconds and contain no spare clips for a total of five shots. BR55HB SR Battle Rifle There are six battle rifles throughout the map that respawn every 10 seconds and contain two spare clips. They are meant to be ammo pick-ups. [Type-51 Carbine] Covenant Carbine There are two carbines on the map that respawn every 10 seconds and contain two spare clips. They serve virtually the same purpose as a battle rifle. [Type-1 AP-G] Plasma Grenade There are four plasma grenades on the map that respawn every 30 seconds. Each one is paired with a frag grenade. M9 HE-DP Fragmentation Grenade There are four frag grenades on the map that respawn every 20 seconds. Each one is paired with a plasma grenade. Active Camouflage There is one active camo on the map that respawns every 120 seconds but does NOT spawn at start. Awesome map man. I remember playing on this a couple of weeks ago with you and it was great. I can 't even imagine how you improved upon it in the past couple of weeks until you finally released it. I'll DL soon. Have to clear harddrive.
Remember playing on this a while ago and really enjoying it. I loved the fact that the map was asymetrical but very balanced at the same time and suited the MLG gametypes well. Looks nicer since I played it, thats always good. Another great map Ace, you've got a talent for these asymetrical enclosed maps.
This is an amazing small team map. I loved every testing session I had on this and I'm glad that you posted this sooner than later. Love this map and it inspired me to make my MLG map.
Great map and it looks very smooth. King looks like it would work out super on this map so it has my download. The design of the map looks unique, it will take a couple games to understand this map :/. Anyways really good job.
nice map. beautiful aesthetics. that second screenshot reminds me of the bottom of one of the bases from N64's Conkers Bad Fur Day when u play colors. just because of that, i instantly loved this map. imma DL now.
HOLY....****! Ned I say more? This map just punched me in the face. The layout is wonderful and the aesthetics keep the map interesting. I love the red room, it looks cool with the winding staircase and all. Very nice to see another sweet map by the master. 5/5
This map reminds me of cromatic. I guess I'll see how Iambic stacks up because I'm going to download it. I really like the themes of the rooms, especially the blue-tinted camo room lined with the blue colums. I really cant say anything else untill I play it. I played this map last night. Your spawns worked wonderfully as well the hill placements were wonderful. I hope your map continues to get recondition for the wonderful layout. The lines of sights are a perfect example of how to lay spawns on a forged map. It is worth the forge through for that reason alone. Tossing on fun game play on a new refreshing map... Priceless. Wow this looks pretty neat. The forging looks great with all the different structures. Seems very clean and with amazing gameplay from the video speaking with an incredible layout. 9.5/10 for me
