Map Title: Death Star The Empire's Base itself Download Map Download Gametype Description: You heard it, the Death Star. I worked on it for awhile, so I wanted to share it with you guys, especially you Star Wars fans. It is the real base itself, complete with a hangar, Death Ray, and much more. It can be used to play with Slayer, Territories, or its own gametype (Death Star VIP). Also features another area where the rebels can spawn on a ship of their own (with a hangar), so there can be space dog-fighting going on as well. Pictures: Death Star (Front w/ Gloomy effect) Death Star (Back) Hangar Top Room - Contains Turrents Please download and provide feedback, I am always looking forward to hear some good tips and tricks from you guys here at forgehub. Comment/rate as well. Thank you, Ojijo
i love the idea, and im suprised no one has thought of it before now that i think about it. The big issue is the interlocking, i realize its gonna be hard to make a perfect sphere without some rough edges, but i think it could definately be done better. I like that you also put the time into making an interior, thats cool. One suggestion is maybe try something like having the teleporter lead into the crypt, so you have more room to make an interior, but thats purely a suggestion I just noticed something looking at the pictures again, is there a ship or something in the top right corner of your first picture? I saw something that looks like some double boxes or somethin, if it is somethin you should definately mention it, you dont want to leave stuff like that out, it might encourage someone to download it
Thanks rewib65! I wish i could make it a perfect sphere but it'd be way to hard. Plus I'd run out of materials or money. There are a few gaps here and there, but you get the idea, I guess with more time there is definately room for improvement. And yes, I thought about leading it into the crypt, but then again i felt like I wanted a couple things to be in the interior of it. By the time I was done, I was pretty much out of money, because I had to build the Rebel ship, which is what you saw in the top corner of the pic, good eye. Its not the best looking ship however, due to the very small budget I was working with. But I did mention it in the description.
oh, ha, yea, it was in the description, lol, i guess i missed it. Yeah, if you ran out of a budget i guess there isnt much you can do to make it neater, unless you tried doing ghost merging? I know it is typically just for geomerging, but it could help you make it more spherical, heres a link to a good tutorial on how to if you want. YouTube - Halo 3- "How to Ghost Merge" Forge woah, i didnt know it would embed it, i hope that doesnt go against any forgehub rules
You didn't have to post a video, you could have just posted a link. But even so, this is a map that I would HIGHLY recommend making a version two with better interlocking. With some quality forging, this map could get 1000+ downloads. And by the way, I wish that you would have had action shots because I don't even know how the gametypes would work for this! Be sure to do that with you... version 2.
Thanks I'll get working on it.. thanks for the tips. And you mean interlocking as in like intersecting? Or that ghost merging stuff? Cuz I did some of that, just not all of it
you could also use a budget glitch since you said you ran out. http://www.forgehub.com/forum/forging-101/30898-ultimate-budget-glitch.html
Yes, definitely use ghost merging. It will improve the aesthetic look of this by a TON! But awesome idea and I'm looking forward to what it will look like in the future.
Looks a little bumpy, but otherwise good, I suggest interlocking curved/ bent objects like the outside of an obelisk to make the outside smooth. This caught my eye because my best friend's gamertag is Death Star.
