So yeah, my current TV is on its last legs, and I'm going to college soon, so I need to buy a new TV. My price range is anywhere from $500 to $800. The latest issue of Game Informer suggests the Sony Bravia 32" KDL-32XBR9, but when I went online to check it out, I saw that it received rather low ratings on both Best Buy's and Sony's website. Can anyone look at those reviews and tell me if they're accurate, or suggest another good gaming TV? That would be great. EDIT: These are the 3 best ones I've found, so tell me which one is best: Sony 32" Class BRAVIA XBR9 Series -- $699 (The backlight problem mentioned in the reviews has been subsequently patched by Sony.) Samsung 32" LN32B650 LCD HDTV -- $999 Panasonic 37" TC-L37S1 Viera LCD HDTV -- $849 These all have 1080p resolutions and pretty low response times (in milliseconds) as well as refresh rates.
Well I have a 32in Vizio that I have had for about 2 years. Vizios are usually the cheapest ones you can find, but from my experience the quality is good. Sure I can notice a difference between it and my dads Sony (mainly because his is 120 hz) but it is still good quality. Mine is a 32 in with 1080i output at 60hz and it has a built in HD tuner, and it cost $600 (like I said I bought it two years ago and this was the cheapest 32 I could find).
Toshiba Samsung Panasonic LG Sony The above are all about the same, with the cheapest at the top, fading into the highest quality at the bottom. It's usually a case of preference or any good deals you can find.
I had a 37" Dynex (I know, I had never heard of it either) that was great for gaming. Got it for $500 at Best Buy. There was no lag (everyone tells me that LCDs lag...). The picture was great. Sound was good. Basically worked perfectly for gaming. The cable wasn't as clear as my roommate's tv, but I had no complaints with anything else. So, if you're looking for a cheaper tv that still delivers, give a quick look for a Dynex.
Go for the sony bravia. Ive got a 46 inch version and its the best HDTV ive seen. And ive seen alot of HDTVs.
I bought a personal 27" Sanyo HDTV for under $200 at Walmart, but if you need size, go to Costco, and pick up a 37" VIZIO for $600.
I have Dynex 32", the picture and performance is great, except the audio sucks. It makes crackling noises and left some sound marks around my speakers, so I use external speakers.
