I don't know how many saw the post in the Tester's Guild, but there are pictures of my first contribution to forgehub. The map is called Mombasa Bridge (based on the bridge from the early level of Halo 2). Basically, it's a symmetrical, two leveled map, made for objective (assault, ctf) games. Anyway enjoy the pics and please (and I really mean it), give me your opinion. I'm a strong believer in feedback (good or bad). Photos: One of the bases. Me and a different view of a base Underneath (full span) Underneath (halfway) The bridge (full span) The bridge (halfway) As I said, I welcome all feedback.
Not that bad forging, but there are only two available routes to take. (That I am aware of) This creates a massive choke point in a level. And especially with a scorpian on there... I am assuming that you're going to need to do some massive amounts of tweaking to make this play well.
I just signed up to test. Design wise, I would compare this to a flat narrows. For your weapon/vehicle set, it looks like every battle will be long range and I'm really hoping you give us BR starts (this style of a map makes it so that it's needed). The possibility of falling off also looks very bad so think about making the walkways alot wider and add some railings. I'm curious to test this though so I'll discover if I'm right or not this saturday.
Good job on this map. The only thing I see wrong gameplay wise is the missle pod and sparten lazer on a map with a warthog or scropian. If the defenders get just a hold o those 2 weapons then the attacking team will never be able to escape with the flag, bomb, ect. Good job on the map just could use some tweaking with railings and equal weapon ballance so that you cant just use the sparten and missle pod to kill all the attacking teams vechicals.
I definitely plan on BR starts (this map with just ARs.. no...) You know, I didn't think about the missile pod/laser control. I'm thinking about it now, and wondering what would be a good substitute for either. As for the walkways underneath, that's actually my favorite part of the map. I look at the narrow parts as adding a new challenge to it; especially with the flare. If your running and that gets thrown, your almost forced to stop in your tracks or fall off.
Even if you enjoy it (and it is funny when that happens), you have to understand the majority of people playing this map won't. You going to hear complaints about the walkways a lot, just warning you.
