Hi guys! I'm making another map on Sandbox. It's a remake of New Mombasa, based on the scenes in Halo 3 ODST when you are dropping in and at the end when the Phantom is flying away and you can see all of New Mombasa. It includes the space tether, skyscrapers, Alpha Site, Uplift Reserve, the Covenant Carrier ( this is before the Covenant Carrier jumps away, if you want you can be a hero and destroy it ). And, oh yeah... the map is a mini model, and takes up about a quarter of Sandbox's middle layer. Yes you can be Elite Godzilla and attack the city :)

    Here's the screenshot.
THIS IS AN AESTHETIC MAP, IT IS NOT PLAYABLE, IT JUST LOOKS COOL.

Here is an update, the space tether looks crooked, it's actually not.

    Tell me what you think!

Edit: To everyone that thinks wedges don't look like buildings:
Here is a screenshot of New Mombasa. Look at the buildings.

    So stop whining.

Interesting, looks like it'll be cool when its done but I have doubts it'll play well... Is it just for aesthetics or is it meant to be played on?

EDIT: OHHH it's a mini model. Shoot, sorry didn't realize that :p Pretty cool idea, but this is strictly for aesthetics right? Maybe you should use shield doors for water?

Yes, this map is aesthetic. I would use shield doors, but they have a tendency to float crooked and off the ground. Plus, there's not enough to cover the ground. I might have made it playable, but I showed someone my playable maps I maps I made and they ripped me pretty bad saying they sucked, even though they make maps with almost all power weapons on instant spawn : (

Anyhow, I will probably make shield doors around Alpha Site.

It looks great, but it doesn't look like it wouldn't be very playable. I also think you took it a little too small. It could be bigger than that.

Are you going to make to space elevator? That would make a nice edition to the map, and your covenant carrier is a little smaller and fatter looking. Make it longer and stream lined.

IMO the buildings don't cut it for buildings.

    otherwise, nice map.

at least half of you people seem to think this is meant to be a remake of the city, to walk around in. It's not. It's just for looks, no one would be stupid enough to try and pass wedges off as buildings.

This sounds like a pretty cool idea. If you used the ultimate buget glitch then the city could be really big! Im looking forward to seeing the finished product.

The idea brought a smile to my face.

Are you going to build Orbital-like mini map at the top of the Tether?

This is to all guys that say the wedges don't look like buildings. Play Halo 3 ODST and look at the skyscrapers. Most of them look like wedges, so dont diss them. I've alredy got a space elevator going, a screenshot update is going on. Also, if the city was life- size, it would take up more than 10 Sandboxes. The Space Tether alone would take up two.

sounds like a realy cool idea you will have to spend alot of time exploring the city in the night campain though, you should make the data hive in the crypt and dont forget the coastal highway

Wonderful idea, I enjoyed it so much I actually down loaded and will take a good forge threw.... wait where is the DL button?

Only thing i would have done is made it have it have more little items of detail... possibly adding a wall around the Oni building, or adding the Highway around the city. The other idea's i'm inspired to suggest are filters coming in later on to make it seem like the city at night.

You're right about the buildings, but you gotta add a little more variety to them. Connect 2 wedges together, Make some taller and geo-merge others, and not all the buildings are wedges, just the really tall ones.

It may be a mini model, but there's a lot you can do with this.

TheorEDIT: Also, the space tether is genius. I was wondering what you were gonna do with it. Also, add a pic that can compare to where from Mombasa you're forging.

The Kinko's Space Tether is made out of radio antennae which means you can reenact your favorite scene from Halo 3:ODST by blowing up the tether.

Orbital takes place on top of the Quito Space Tether, which is believed to be in Ecuador.

But this is a good looking model. Do you have a pic of what you're trying to copy, or are you just going from what you see, because there's a whole lot more buildings in that part of the city.

That's why the map is in previews, I have yet to finish it. I am currently making alot more buildings, a data hive, and the coastal highway.

EDIT: Now, there are alot more buildings and I rebuilt the covenant carrrier. I've also fixed alpha site, built a coastal highway, and planned a data center in the crypt. The map is actually scaring me now, it looks so sick!
