So why are you punishing the many because of the few? If they aren't mature enough, they shouldn't play. If they are incapable of differing between reality and virtual reality they shouldn't play. This kind of stuff should also be found out rather quickly if the parents are maintaining a yearly doctor check up. If the parents didn't know that their child wasn't mature enough, the parents are at fault for not talking to the kid enough. And don't push the mature line into only children. There are quite a few adults that are immature. I'm sorry, what? Such are the joys of finding out that sexuality is a weird thing. Games aren't the only things feeding this supposed flame. Games are probably just a tiny portion of the problem. More so in America then anywhere else. I had to look up Peer Pressure for this. Um... There is no peer group encouraging anyone to change their values in gaming... There is no influencing going on. In some cases there is inspiration being drawn from. Others it's a lack of knowing the difference between reality and Virtual reality. In the former, the person is already ****ed up and is thinking of doing it. In the later, It's a mental problem in the head. . Which unwanted doors?
Ys except the pedophile thing that would fall under child pornography I believe, but other than that 1st ammendment. Now will it sell well it really depends on what area the conroversy is in in some cases controversy will just get something to recieve publicity, but in other cases it will make people feel offended. For the terrorist thing in MW2 I have no problem with that being sold or playing it because in the end its just a videogame thats it just a videogame thats all they are.
I'd also like to throw out the argument that these types of actions act as a way for people to live out these scenarios in a completely unreal environment with no side effects. The same way games can work as anger management by relieving stress through destroying something, killing someone, etc., video games allow people to fulfill their desire to experience these types of actions. There was a study in a book called Grand Theft Childhood that stated children who do not engage in mature video games are consistently considered the bullies of school, participate in sexual recreation, and commit other inappropriate actions far more than children who are allowed to play these video games do. This proves that there is, in fact, a direct correlation to someone's actions in relation to the amount of mature video games the play: that those who play these games are more likely to turn out socially acceptable and mature. So, as you argue that MW2 will cause 10 people to kill innocent civilians by reliving the instance depicted in the video game, I can argue that possibly hundreds will grow up to commit the same actions and more due to a lack of experiencing these mature video game concepts.
Exactly, but, as I said before, just look at how many underage kids play M rated games... No matter what, kids are going to get their hands on those extreme games... Then I said parents aren't the only form of protection, meaning these game developers can put their hand in to stop not only kids, but all sorts of people who are incapable of handling atrocities. Not really... Doctors can't always find out what people are doing outside of school/their job/etc.. Lots of kids go behind their parents backs just to get their hands on this kind of stuff.. Most kids don't go up to their mom asking, "Can I buy this game called Extreme **** 2?" Yup Lots of people can't be exposed to extreme stuff. It hurts them mentally. I don't follow.. True to a certain extent... Games aren't the only things, but they're the most provocative, seeing as the gamer does the actions.. Later on they might think, "Hey, I do it on Xbox, so it shouldn't be that hard to do it now" Sad but true. I really can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.. especially after reading: The game developers, other kids who play the game, the gamer sellers, etc.. Sometimes good inspiration, sometimes not so good inspiration.. The chances are higher that someone will get the not so good inspiration when they play a more violent game, rather than a not so violent game. I don't follow.. Stupidity, greed, corruption, etc..
I'm not completely positive but I'm fairly positive that it actually doesn't I remember reading the actual law or whatever and I remember it including drawings and cartoons and stuff like that.
Oh, I know all about those games. I mean like an actual console game. In some instances, yes. However, it's sort of vague.
