Title says all. Alot of people talk about things being bad in the long-run, but sometimes long-term solutions aren't as good as sort term solutions. Which should you go for? Why? Short-Term Solution Pros Effective immediately Easy to predict short-term things Some times you need things ASAP Cons Can have bad effects in the long run Some things you can't go back on Long-Term Solution Pros Rarely backfires Cons Unpredictable Sometimes you NEED things quickly, and have little time List will be updated as posts are made.
Is this really worth debate? I will answer cuz I am bored. I would go with both. You are always told to save up money for later in life to go to college and be prepared for later life. Thats a good thing to do, yet finding a job for now that sux but pays good is a short term deal that hooks you up now. If you go to college, by the time you are done with all of your school, your already almost old right? like 26 or something. Thats all of the fun part of life spent in school, or maybe even trying to work and do college at the same time, which also sux and is depressing and tiring. I guess the answer is up to the person. Me, I didnt go to college, I graduated high school and went straight to the oil field, which I am now paying for since work is down thanks to this awesome economy. Likewise, how would I pay for college if I had gone. Tuff decision to make.
I'm sure most of us have been taught at some point in our lives that "Long-term solutions are better than short-term!" and "Always plan for the long run!" and "Smart decisions now will benefit you in the long run!" While I sincerely agree with those statements, it is A LOT easier said than done. I believe that if you plan for long term solutions, things will work out better. But many times it's just too hard to plan things out for the long run. Short term solutions are favored by so many people because it offers a quick fix with less effort. And the way things can get so hectic in the world today, it only seems right to go for the immediate fix, although it might cause problems in the long run. Just my 2 cents. I could write a book on this, but I don't have that kind of time right now. I will check up on this thread later and elaborate
Quick thing to think about. If we looked for long-term solutions in terms of world hunger and poverty, the population would be much lower, but poverty wouldn't exist.
Long term soultion here: feed the worlds poor to the worlds hungry. solves poverty, hunger, and overpopulation, but causes mass cannibalism... lol I have to say that short term solutions. yes they will have unexpected repercussions, but yet another short term solution can fix that, problems will arise... but being quick to decide, we will be able to get through them faster. An example that may be on a topic sensitive to some americans: Spoiler when the world trade centers were destroyed, we could have just nuked afganistan or iraq, and this whole war would not have happened because we would have killed most people linked to those events then and there
