    Anyways, this is what it does to my screen:

    First, press Ctrl + A, then hit the Enter key.

    As you're starting up, hold F8. You'll get a menu, choose 'Safe Mode'. If this works fine, your graphic drivers are corrupted probably.

    You may also have a virus, especially if you download things a lot.

    Disconnected all peripherals? Anything other than power and plugs that are absolutely necessary should be taken out till you get this working.

    Yup. Safe mode again. If you're not getting the weird menu, you're doing it wrong.

    I'm sure you can do it on start-up, I think by pressing F10.

    Yeah, just have to press Pause/Break and you can get all the options on your screen.
    I think it was either F10 or F11

    I have a feeling that Microsoft do not make a habit of sending their system users viruses ¬.¬

    ^ This.

    Alternativly:

    1. Ctrl + Shift + Esc
    2. File -> Run
    3. Type explorer.exe & hit enter
    4. Backup w.e you need.
    That's just incase it happens again.
