I know there are a lot of avid music lovers out there that, like me, feel that ForgeHub needs a place where music can be shared discussed exclusively. Currently we have certain threads where people tend to post their favourite songs through YouTube, but this is messy and cluttered. I am proposing that a social group is created. I know many people have not really used social groups, but they are a very useful tool. Seperate threads could be created for different genres, images could be shared into galleries, artists could be collected into compendium. One trick people havn't noticed is that you can also subscribe to groups, so that if new posts are made, you can access them straight away from your user cp. The group has been created and you guys are free to join, but at the moment posting is disabled. Firsty just like to know who would be interested? There would no doubt be one or two rules thrown down to better the whole process, but i know that it would be much more successful than anything we currently have, and may provide proof that a music forum would be a good addition to ForgeHub. Finally, this needs quite a bit of planning. My initial idea was to create topics for all of the major genres, and allow people to post 1 youtube video per post within it as a basic requirement, or something like that. As well as that, i was going to create a compendium of all artists submitted and categorize them by major genre in a large thread. If you have any other ideas, feel free to share. At the moment i am just working out which genres to begin with.
I support this idea. I would definitely subscribe and join the group. Do you have any plans for organizing it? Perhaps it could be organized by music type then further by band name.
To my knowledge, you can only create separate threads, and under those people can post. You organize threads into sections (such as genres in this case). I like this idea, though there are such a vast amount of genres out there, you could never really create a thread for them all. If you keep it to the more well known genres, then those who don't listen to such may feel left out. I mean, where am I supposed to put my Balkan Folk?- my Swedishfolktronica?- my Afro-Beat? At the very least, include a Folk section, and a World section as well.
I'm down for this. Dow kinda killed my music thread with screamo and bad reviews of anything other, which I take is what you were referring to with the OP. Anyway, I'm up for this, I'll suscribe to group and stay updated. Nice idea too, look forward to socialising wit mah beetz.
Great Idea. Several of the bands I listen to today I heard from on this site. It would only make things better if people could share the music they enjoy. Afterall, its not easy finding good reggae bands..
