Solaris Created By Furious D 18 Don't stay on the ground too long, or you'll die from the lava. Give your feet time to cool off before returning to the ground. Solaris is a small symmetrical map built outside Standoff. In this particular area of Standoff, the ground has a delayed death field covering it, so if you spend too much time there, you'll die. And if you jump off the ground but return too quickly, you'll die. Think of the ground like lava. Once you jump off it, you have to let your feet cool off a little before you go back. In the center, players will find a bubble shield and a rocket launcher sitting among two rows of crates. But beware, one grenade explosion and the crates will scatter, and you'll find yourself scrambling for safe ground to stand on. Play King of the Hill here for a cool mini-game, where players must stay on the shifting crates to earn time in the hill. Also try this map with Rockets or Multi-Flag CTF with touch return. For added fun, load the map but don't tell your friends about the death ground. Download Solaris View the original Forge Hub thread for more info
ctrl+R ctrl+R ctrl+R ctrl+R ctrl+R ctrl+R = Win! first post bitchezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz looks solid i remeber my first time on this map i wont let the cat out of the bag but dont stay on the ground to long hehehe o and always look for peps on the ground and shoot for some epic kills!
this map is great, i love knocking the crates out from underneath people and i have played some pretty epic FFA's here.
This map probably has to be my favorite map by you Furious, even though it is a somewhat simple set up. The floors really make the game fun yet still competitive. Very cool plus more BRs the better.
Thanks guys. I think this one is my favorite of mine as well. Some people tell me that they don't like it because "there is nowhere to run". I think that's one of the reasons that I like it. You have to constantly be aware of where your opponents are. And running away can be achieved, but it gets intense as you try to stay off the ground too. I built the map and I still sometimes find myself on the ground with nowhere to run. But I still love it. And to address the "only got featured because he is a mod/ex-Guilder" argument before it gets started: this was first posted in the Competitive Maps forum a while ago. I wanted it to get featured but I waited until I got enough people to agree that it was worthy. I know there are a lot of other deserving maps, but I don't know if we've gotten permission from the map authors yet. I got permission from the staff to go ahead and Feature Solaris today, so that's why I posted it.
This map totally deserves it. Its a laugh and a half for sure. I'd still like to play a game on this with you. Congrats on another feature.
Well done, I love the fact that you can't just run across the ground, you have to use strategy to move around the map.
When I first played this along time ago, it was the most awesome map ever, but unfourtanetly I can never get a good game going, because it is extreemely easy to get out of the map. I think some other good maps could of been featured before this one, only because this gets old quick for me. Love showing it to friends though, without telling them of the kill zone
Favorite Furious Map, bar none. When I played this way back when, I kept loving and loving this map. Like any other Featured Map, it's worth a DL. And if you're like me, you might just keep it on your HDD forever.
A great gimmick pulled off greatly. "Enjoy the lava, A-hole", lol. This map has the perfect ratio of long-range, close-range, cool jump paths, and lava of any map out there right now. Thanks for making this, Furious.
Haven't played it yet but I assume the ground is kinda like that of Pirate Wars. I gotta DL this when I get home tonight, it looks great.
This map will probably stay on my hard drive forever. It is the best custom map I have ever seen. Very competitive. I like it.
Great map. Agreed with everyone here, espescially Cosmic. Enjoy the lava ahole. lol, your map has a popular tagline. That's pretty sweet. Oh, and you have my permission as the author of Cyclopean to feature that next. Man it'd be so cool to have 3 GoO featured maps in a row. [/wishful thinking]
this map is between wintacular and failionare in my books. it has great, fun, gameply, but its so simple it makes me have a head ache {yes, simple = headache with me}. all and all GJ, now gimmy some advil!!!!
