Helms Deep from lord of the rings has made its way to halo :O erm, yeah this map isnt finished although it may look it, im still finishing off quite abit of the flaws etc and adding any ideas that i think will improve gameplay, im thinking of making this part of a map pack, perhaps a sort of movie themed castle pack. This is my first real forge map im making, ive made a few others, but im not too happy with them tbh. OMG THIS MAP IS SO ACCURATE! nice map I like how everything is as good as the pictures. invite me when you test. maybe add some blocks by the explosive opening for aesthetics.
thanks and good idea yeah, some parts arent quite as good as id like but i still have a good amount of budget left, such as the tower, i would make it fatter but i ran out of double blocks :L ahah. yeah il need a good few people to actually test it out anyway, cause hardly any of my friends play halo X(
The map looks like a beautiful remake of the original, gameplay could be interesting, assault variant perhaps? Can't wait for the finished product, keep up the good work!
Thanks, and yeah thats a good idea, im pretty stuck for gametypes, ive done spawn points for infection, but yeah i never even thought of assault, great idea!
I figure assault fits pretty well with the actual back story of Helm's deep, so if you're that keen on a remake it'd work well. I'd love to help testing but im located in Perth, Australia(GMT +8), so yellow bars all the way. But if that's no problem add me for testing.
Is it going to be playable? Looks really nice. Obv you would never be able to make the thing totally like Helms deep due to its complicated nature and its size & Halos incapability to make it.
for the explosive wall i suggest using damaged pillars and pallets, then put a few fusion coils that way oh say infection someone has to sacrifice there self to blow up the hole.
hey! i tried to make this map long ago.... but i failed im just not a very good forger..... okay back to the map. it looks great! you've obviously put a lot of time and heart into this map! on first glance i notice 1 flaw, though... the wall curves the wrong way. you have as well probably noticed this by now, and are probably smacking your head against some very hard surface, with a uncomprehendable amount of force, at this very instant. GOOD LUCK!
yeah i know about the wall curving, instead of doing it that way i curved it the other way so it fit around the sand. ahah. i did it mainly for how difficult it would be to forge due to if it curved out, id have to build more of that huge mountain that it goes into ahah. anyway, theres always room for a v2
1 bomb defenders have limited sniper ammo (archers) and a few swords and other weopons strew about bomb carrier is slow but strong after the bomb is planted there should be a passage to get down to the plant on defenders side
hey guys ive made the exploded wall part, and ive added some stationary wraiths as catapults, ill put pics up in a min EDIT: here.
all testers are welcome, the more the merrier :L the only thing im stuck with now is thinking of a game variant, i was going to do like swords and something else cause im like 4 items away from the object limit so weapon placement isnt really an option.
1 sided assault and infection. Orcs get swords hammers, main zombie gets an os and runs a little fast. regular ones are no shield but run fast. Your going to need to put a few weapons like br's and a sniper or 2 there seems to be decent cover in the middle so zombies get ass raped won't be a problem and the wraiths are a really good idea. 2 zombies can just bombard the hell out of the base while the others attack. I say swords because weapons won't really work. Zombies can just blow up the wall from a long way away that way. (alot of ways lol) it makes it more realistic because then someone has to sacrifice there self to let others in the wall. Ps. send me a FR CaptnSTFU id love to help test.
Also if you wanted to you could make the front gate out of moveable objects (although you've almost hit the limit :[. ) and give the orcs a prowler or a chopper (seems orcish) to use as a battering ram, for another point of entry.
Gametype-wise, you should do one sided CTF, Assault, and Territories. Infection too. As a remake, the map looks beautiful. I can't wait to play it.
thanks guys and yeah i like the just swords idea, the wraiths make it awesome, like tons of bombardments on the wall, theyre quite far off so its reasonably hard to accurately hit the wall cause you have to aim high. and with the wall, ive made it like half moveable, because the column damaged barely move from fusion coil explosions, so theres like a big brick at the top you can knock off with the coils. and i like the idea of a prowler or something maybe i could put turrets on the wall?
