I know there is another thread about the boats but this is about how trashy they are. 1. you walk near them while they're in the water at the beginning of a round. When you get close to them they immediately sink WTF?!?!? 2. You can float in them for a limited amount of time then it sinks. I know you can melee them to keep them afloat but you shouldn't have to. 3. Why can't you drive them simply like a vehicle? 4. Why don't they float like a normal boat? I know they were made for decoration but at least make them more appealing to forgers, custom gamers, and so on. I am still going to try to find an effective way of driving them and make the best of them. Feel free to add to the list.
1. you walk near them while they're in the water at the beginning of a round. When you get close to them they immediately sink WTF?!?!? At the beginning of the round all objects spawn, it's probably a glitch. Get over it. 2. You can float in them for a limited amount of time then it sinks. I know you can melee them to keep them afloat but you shouldn't have to. They sink because Bungie tries to keep the proformance of the to it's highest quality, they don't want it to lag. So the game despawns and respawns items, the boat sinks because if the boat went past the boundaries you wouldn't be able to grab it so it sinks and then despawns when it gets to the certain depth. 3. Why can't you drive them simply like a vehicle? Because it's not one of the vehicles Bungie created for the Halo series... Maybe it's out of gas. 4. Why don't they float like a normal boat? It's a video game and you are a spartan that weight a couple tons.
it can disappear for lags sake but if you have a canvas which I do there is no lag. Making boats disappear if they go beyond the boundary wouldn't be hard for bungie. So if a spartan is touching it, it should float. You do have a valid point about weighing so much, but they don't float normally whether you are on them or not.
what if they are useless and your bitching over nothing. If you really want to float, hold a double box in the water, save it, and then end it. There you go, your floating.
You're a 7 ft tall, 1000 lb. Tank of a soldier, and you're pissed off because a Dinghy cant hold your weight?
Place an object under the water, and then place the dinghy on it... Easy as that. Silence has got it right. Sure, a regular boat would support a Spartan, but a rubber raft isn't going to. Sure, Bungie could allow you to drive the dinghys... But what would happen is you would drive for a couple seconds, then drown.
A friend of mine found a glitch that makes them float. Whenever it starts sinking you shoot it and it will float again. I should ask how he did it. He's on Forgehub so maybe he'll see this thread.
i like the idea of the dingys it looks good and i suppose its an added bonus you can even get them in the water really... i really want to make a map semi submerged in water and i reckon longshore could be the map i can make it on.. is there anyway i could spawn objects in the deep water without them just sinking or without me constantly starting new rounds? (sorry for veering off topic)
That might be due to 'The Bump'. It's a little thing in Halo which isn't noticable in-game as your too busy playing. However, if you go into customs by yourself and walk towards an object, you'll notice that it jumps a little when you get close to it. As such it might be just becuase 'The Bump' works on the object and so it sinks due to that.
if you want to drive it have a mongoose pushed on the engine, and drive the mongoose forward, it will be like driving the boat, and to keep it afloat have someone hit the boat as you drive it
