Lockout and Midship would have me sold in the remakes category. Ascension would of course be great for the good old power tower and casual play, but it isn't a must. I think the Heroic Map pack was a major let down for competitive players. The closest we got to a competitive map was Foundry, which only becomes competitive once we work with it. Legendary at least has one competitive locked up, and a second one has potential if the forging pallet is good enough to make it smaller by blocking off rooms. Forge has been Bungie biggest success in Halo because it keeps the people on this site around, and it has helped keep the competitive community content. Hopefully, whenever there is a new small-medium sized map in a map pack, Forge will give us the opportunity to make it competitive no matter how bad it is. Edit: I don't understand why people want Blood Gulch remade again when we have Valhalla. I guess the same could be said about Lockout, but I really feel that there are much better maps than Blood Gulch that could be done. The map was fun, but I don't think it would translate well to Halo 3 (just like Coag. wasn't as fun). I think Bungie needs to stick with H2 remakes because it is so much more similar than Halo 1 to Halo 3 (health packs, damage when you fall, pistol, etc.).
urban just doesn't work for halo (I mean real urban with buildings that are accessible and streets etc.) and forest doesn't really work either, both are just too flat, for halo you need jumps and hot areas for people who like cqb to fight but also places off to the side where campers would like to be. Just look at UT, that's the style of map that would work well for halo.
I disagree. Forests aren't flat. You could definitely have some hills as power points like Valhalla, but I wouldn't want to see it. On street maps, the roads are definitely flat, but the buildings can act as "hot areas" and can give you an advantage over your opponents. Maps like Headlong just don't work out in Halo because the gameplay is very slow. I remember playing snipers where the skilled player didn't always win because players would just hide in a random building, and you can't really get any strategy going. Turf was better because the buildings weren't accessible, which led to faster gameplay.
I would say Infinity, Icy Fields, and This one forest like level that was on Halo Pc. I remember playing on that level and it being really fun. Oh, and the problem with UT Maps is, Their usually geared towards a certain gametype (ie CTF or Assault). Unless i missed something.
I would love to see that part of Campaign as a MM level... I think it is on "The Covenant." The area after the AA Wraith where you go to a waterfall. IF that was blocked off/ added onto it would be swet.
Headlong, probably my second favorite H2 map. Terminal, probably my third favorite H2 map. And that part of the Campaign level 'The Storm', the part where you fight the Scarab. Awesome Pack right there.
turf and terminal are my two choices for remakes both of those maps had a very unique feel and turf was hyper competitive in my opinion EDIT: I cant believe i forgot midship i know all the mlg people would cheer in mass at that being remade
a map like the one on the first part of halo 2 it was cool seeing how i played only 3 missions on halo 2
Wow what happened to originality? C'mon guys, I wanna see some fantasy maps of yours that you just dreamt up. Or some type of interesting map idea that's never been seen on halo. Please more posts with less remakes and more originality. Everyone knows the maps on halo 1 and halo 2 were good, but I want to see something different rather than a familier face. Have a nice day to all.
Yeah, but what if we spill the beans on our brilliant map idea and then some ridiculous idea-stealing, map-making supervillain comes along? Though that's probably a long shot.
If it's good enough to be stolen, then it's a good idea that deserves to be made by w/e means necessary. Just like some of my maps, whenever I see that someone has stolen them and not given credit for it, I feel flattered. I feel this way, because my map was a good enough map to be stolen from me and replaced with someone else's name. As long as my maps get out there is all that matters to me. Thanks you and have a lovely day.
urban would work if there was only one building that everyone is fighting for or, like you said, turf which is an urban map but the buildings aren't accessible and there are lots of jumps and stuff that make it still feel like a halo map. And even if you had a hill that would be a hot spot for a forest map it would still go too slow imo (ie. Creek from COD4) and would either be too cqb from lack of line of sight from the trees or too sniper dominant from too long LOS because of lack of trees. I've played forest maps in many different games and they never work, they just reward the best campers who can find some uber hiding spot or can glitch.
Id have to say, a rat's nest-esque map, but similar to a small labyrinth. What makes this labyrinth special is that its tunnels r big enough for vehicles! Maybe even hornets on the largest ones! The ceilings would be really high like ur REALLY a small rodent. Now that would be awesome!!!
I don't really care what new maps they make (mostly cause i havent' played halo 1 or 2). All I want is for them to be good. No. Great! Like maps i'll actually spend some time on not on games chosen by the matchmaking thing. I mean on forge, or custom games, etc. Bad Map -Isolation -Epitaph Good Map -Foundry -Last Resort (for some customs, like jaws) -Standoff
new maps really i want new maps now after all these old ones being remade and then no more why isn't this back or this is a sucky remake and such
