Greetings! I'm project-managing a machinima production that requires a specialised computer made out of forge bits and pieces. It's a feature piece of architecture that's central to the series (6 parts, 8-10 mins each). Below is a concept piece that may, or may not, have little resemblance to what you want to design. There are some specs I'd love to have addressed: Length is shorter than a warthog. Width is roughly the width of a spartan soldier. Height of the main cabinet/console is chest height A central screen is about eye-level to a Spartan Buttons and switches, or at least, things that might serve as buttons and switches. Flashing or slowly pulsing lights, if possible The production is called Auria:Connection. It involves a comms specialist and a scientist crashlanding on a totally unknown ringworld. It uses Halo machinima and some elementary CG, and is distantly set in Roosterteeth's 'Red vs Blue' universe, though it doesn't use their characters. There are 8 people donating time to this production so far. You'll get production credits on each episode! I hope this is interesting enough for one of you guys to tackle FAQ Why don't I do it? I don't have an XBOX, never have. I'm a writer/producer/graphic designer, not a gamer. When will it be shot? Production won't start until mid-October. Right now, 5 scriptwriters are developing the characters and script outlines. If you don't have an XBOX, HTH am I getting you the computer? I have two machinimators that can handle that. Just send an image of what it looks like to me in a PM. Really sorry if this isn't what you guys do. But I thought it might be an interesting challenge to see how you can combine smaller forge items together to see how cool you can make a computer. If you have any questions, holler. Cheers, -Oro
Length is shorter than a warthog. Not possable for something this complex. Width is roughly the width of a spartan soldier. Too thin. only weapons are that thin. Height of the main cabinet/console is chest height super short... once again, a cardboard box is about that size. lol A central screen is about eye-level to a Spartan ...???... still really small. Buttons and switches, or at least, things that might serve as buttons and switches.tmaybe grenades, but you'd puck em up if you walked by. Flashing or slowly pulsing lights, if possible uh, nothing liek that in forge. lol...
Point 1: interlocking. Point 2: Interlocking. Point 3: Geomerging. Point 4: Geomerging. Point 5: Interlock the grenades halfway and you can see them, but not pick them up. Point 6: Powerups, maybe.
Nah A column would work. Can be done. What would the screen look like? Grenades Blinking Light on a tele.
Or you could just go onto High Ground and use the computer object given... In fact, given that you didn't tell us exactly what map you want this done on, why can't the computer be an object on the list already? The monitor screen just wouldn't look right at all, unless we found a way to use a super skinny shield door...
yeah, I think this would be something better done with some computor editing software. If you're not good enough to do that, then stfu. If you are and just need a model to overlay it on, you might want to mention that. Basically, most of the things you need some from editing the video to make it bigger or smaller, then just overlaying some really cool sci-fi thing. I do know thats possible, I have a lot of experiance editing pictures and video.
Hey guys, thanks for the input. The map we're after comes with the ODST release. It's called Citadel. It doesn't come with any unique forgable equipment. The screen can just be a plain blank wall. Titles and graphics can be super-imposed on it later. Re: Lights. As we all know, lights = SCEINCE in SF productions But it's not critical that the computer have a huge array of lights... but one or two, or even some sort of glowing, force-field type of effect generated by machinima objects would be great, just to provide a sense of operation to it. Just bear in mind that soldiers will have to get close to it, so objects that kill, teleport or otherwise affect the characters regularly would be a pain to work with. EDIT: Just to give you guys an idea of the sort of non-machinima stuff we have planned for the series: this clip is purely a test dumy run of some models. It's highly compressed, ratty quality, but we wanted to see the effects of water, cloud shadowing and camera mvement. This scene is NOT in the final production: it's just a test. http://s692.photobucket.com/albums/vv284/Uberdraco/?action=view¤t=PelicanSquadron.flv Please help - I realise what I'm asking for is not easy. But honestly - Only you guys are able to do this.
