This is a map that has been complete since June. I just haven't bothered to post it anywhere yet. Anyway, the main concept behind this map was simple. I love most of The Pit's design, with my biggest complaints being the lack of viable flag route options and the lame sword room. I took it upon myself to fix those issues, and I hope I've done a good job at taking ideas from The Pit without making it mostly a remake. I don't like writing these big long posts, so I'll just hop right into the pics.

It runs everything The Pit ran, and aside from the single mauler, the weapons are the same quantity, and the important ones are drop spawned.

    Main overview of the map.

Custom spawn, wood steps, and a decent view of the base.

Snipe tower. The small corner under the instant spawning grav lift means you don't have to jump into it to make it all the way up.

Pyramid. Rocket spawns up at the top. This was my structure to replace the Pit's sword room.

Training. You can't really tell from the screenshot, but those wedges are pulled out slightly to create a ledge similar to The Pit's yellow ledges.

Mauler spawn. That BR is there simply to draw players' eyes to the jump-up, lest it be missed.

    Red base.

Teardropped slide jumps. The angle lets you jump and make it through the hole. On MLG speed, you don't need to crouch. Should you play this on 100% speed for some reason, you'll need to crouch to make it up.

Dude! I love the pit too! And from the looks of it, this looks almost nothing like the Pit! Five stars for originality!

Well, anyway this is really pleasing aesthetically, and its got wonderful gameplay features. Also, dont even worry about posting long things. You are still about twenty paragraphs short of my record. Also, if you are worried about people disliking your maps, wrong again. I really think this is an amazing map, and if you didnt mention the Pit you would probably get much more accurate feedback, because some people will get hung up on the fact that this is only inspired by the Pit, not a remake of the Pit. Other than that, this is really good, just want to have better explenations. It was too short.
Edit: Your bases are a little bumpy, try not to use walls for floors next time. That way I dont have to post another oxymoronic sentance like the previous. Also, try as I might I cannot come up with a base idea as original as that. Sorry...

VERY NICE!!! I love how good you were at geomerging, and making it not look so much like the pit by using your creativity. The map layout looks nice and it looks like it would be good for a team slayer map. So, good job. 4/5 Map. 10/10 geomerging.

This looks brilliant, very original re-imagination! Only things I can think of to improve it would be to perhaps merge the grav lifts with the block underneath.

Thanks, but the grav lifts are movable objects, so interlocking them is impossible. Now that ghost merging has been discovered I may try to stick them under an object. That will be included in my almost complete rebuild of the map that I'd like to do for v2 once I get more feedback.

Awesome! My only complaint about the map is that some of the spots look a little fugly with flashing walls/pieces. Aesthetics=4/10 (I know you tried, try harder next time). But luckily for you gameplay>aesthetics. So you should have fun in-game. But perhaps to make the map pretty enough to download, you should touch up the aesthetics a little. Because even though gameplay>aesthetics, aesthetics play a part subconsciously in having a good time and even more in getting downloads.

Eeh... some parts of this have really good aesthetics.

Also; I tryed for hours but couldnt come up with a better idea for the bases. Just not enough peices left. I dont know whether or not you used an OLN canvas, but it could have been the difference between "OMG AWESOME" and "hey those bases are kinda neat." Just saying, a v2 would be amazing. Final note: Make some kind of symmetrical cool design inside of the pyramid. And get rid of the random ring around the outside of it, because you can easily rocket jump up there if you know what your doing.

    Keep up te good work!

This is a good map. I really can't see to much similarity to the pit. When I draw the layouts for my maps I usually draw my inspiration from a map that already exists (not always a halo map however.) I find that it gives me a great starting point but that at the end of the process the map never looks anything like the one that inspired it. I suggest in the future that you should keep your inspiration to yourself unless your map is really a remake. As soon as people read about the pit in your description they are naturally going to compare your map to the pit which can produce some distorted feed back.

Now on to the actual map critique... The aesthetics are inconsistent. What I mean by this is that some of your structures (the snipe tower and the training area) are very neat and orderly but other aren't up to par with the rest of the map. For example, the flat piece on the outside of the pyramid is not interlocked neatly and pieces of the structure behind it poking through. I realize that this can be hard to fix but a thoughtful, competitive map like this one deserves better than that. The floors of the bases need to be cleaned up a bit.

As far as gameplay is concerned this map looks great. It is undoubtedly balanced and is really seems like having the entire medley of Pit Weapons on a smaller space could actually work. I don't think the snipers will be nearly as powerful here as they are on the pit but the rockets will definitely be a instrumental place to control. As for the overshield, it seems very exposed. In MLG if you get shot once before you pick it up it gets burned. On a small map like this it seems like you will have to have the entire team dead to avoid burning the OS. This is an exaggeration of course but I think some cover around the OS spawn could take some focus of the rockets and spread out the gameplay more.

Okay this is becoming a long reply but i really think this map has potential. Hope this helped and keep up the forging

P.s. the name doesn't flatter the map at all.
