I'm coforging a map right now. It should be out in 2 or 3 months. I will use that as my design entry for I designed it and I'm helping to forge it.
Im here. What is it that you have in mind? It may take a while, as Im really busy, but just give me a suggestion and I'll do my best to fix you a nice shiny picture. Check my sig; It isnt an edited copy of recon, its completely from scratch.
You may want to create a website on proboards.com or something, just so its somewhat more official, and this thread may die out. I would also like to be a Designer, however I would only design minigame maps. Im not good at competitive, but I have the ideas for minigames. Heres some maps- Lima 74- T11 Vanquish Hephaestus Air Hockey
In the post it says if you want to join you can post here and I did and nothings happened. If I didn't make the cut the least you could do is tell me instead of ignoring me.
I was going to pm you this, but it might be better here. You might want to revise the way you have designers and crafters create maps, in my opinion, it would be better all the way around. 1) Designer designs a map 2) Designer posts the idea with a picture on their own thread for all Crafters to view 3) Crafters may post if they will accept to create the map, with their time constraint estimate. (How long they believe it will take them to make) 4) Designer looks at all the replies and chooses a Crafter to create the map. 5) Crafter creates map and both Designer and Crafter are given credit for the map. This way, the bad ideas, people will not want to craft, promoting only the best thoughts/ideas/designs. This will also allow more designers than crafters, or crafters than designers, because there is no set in stone partners, just the current partner you are working with. (Maybe even multiple Partners) So this way - more ideas are output - only the best ideas are put into creation - there is a leeway for more designers or crafters So it would be something like this... DieHardAssassin Map name: Train Station Description: Competitive map for up to 4v4 (Anyone can replicate this map if they wish, I never got around to it)
That's a great idea diehard. The only problem I can see is the less well known crafters will never get picked by the designers to do their map
That goes both ways; The less well known drafters are going to have a hard time getting their map read. In the end, the better drafters will get the better crafters, and vice versa. Almost a vicious circle that self heals itself. Those with little experience work tgether untill they both haev lots of it, then get lots of jobs =) I see no problems.
Well, I know that there is no set in stone partners. But just think of how long that would take. I submit a map to a couple of really good forgers like a month ago and I still get no news to whether they accepted it or not or are just taking a really long time. In my opinion, this might be a little unefficient because it requires a map being done... twice. But sure, there's no restraints from doing this, I just think it's easier my way.
They probably didnt care enough to make the maps, wanted to make their own, or got bored of halo or something. There should be updates maybe every week from the specified crafter(s) for your map.*** This way, you will know where the map is at as the designer, and if the crafter has given up, you can forward on the map to a new crafter. As long as the map gets created, its all you really want. ***Oh yeah, I think if there are two people that want to collab. on a map you've designed, that they should be able to.
...Probably. Well, unless the two are forging together... what's to stop the crafter from ditching as well? I know the whole system has its flaws in general, but so does everything in life... And also, I'm making a website and will be done in about a week or so. So as soon as I'm done I'll PM anybody who has posted in this thread who seems interested in joining. I won't give the name or adress of it now, as that would be advertising.
