Click to download. Map Description: Verge, my latest creation, is a map based in Sandbox's Crypt. The layout is aesthetically asymmetric(meaning it looks asymmtric, but plays symmetrically), and has a total of five structures. Both teams have a main base and a sub-base, and in the center lies the Rocket structure. The sides of the map are fairly open, allowing for long range BR fights and easy Ghost manuverability. It is impossible to break the map, as everything on it is intentionally accessable. Weapon List: x6 Battle Rifle[30 seconds; 1 clip] x4 Spiker[45 seconds; 2 clips] x2 Plasma Rifle[45 seconds; N/A] x2 Mauler[90 seconds; 1 clip] x2 Covenant Carbine[45seconds; 2 clips] x1 Plasma Pistol[60 seconds; N/A] x1 Sniper Rifle[120 seconds; 1 clip] x1 Rocket Launcher[180 seconds; 1 clip] x8 Plasma Grenade[10 seconds] x2 Bubble Shield[90 seconds(delayed spawn)] x1 Power Drain[90 seconds] x2 Mongoose[45 seconds(delayed spawn)] x1 Ghost[150 seconds] Supported Gametypes: -Slayer -Team Slayer -Capture the Flag -Assault(not Neutral Assault) -King of the Hill -Team King of the Hill Pictures: Red Base Overview Blue Base Overview Red Sub-Base Sniper Spawn(Red Sub-Base) Blue Sub-Base Ghost Spawn(Blue Sub-Base) Angled Rocket Spawn(Center Structure) The Bridge Stepping Stones Action Shots: Spoiler Rendered Walkthrough Support Verge in Atlas!
Yay. Took you long enough Pel. Saw this preview on ForgeryAid just today. Hopefully it plays as good as it looks. Will update this post with a gameplay review lateeeer...
Cool. It's fair to assume you'll like the gameplay, as all of my testers thought the final version was matchmaking material.
I see you released it. Glad you used my suggestion for the bases; I hope it works as well as I thought it would. The rest of the map looks cool. I have seen a lot of it, but the version I saw wasn't nearly as complete as the complete version is. I can't wait to play with you sometime.
Yeah, you saw it a looooong time ago. If we ever get the chance to play it together, I know you'll like it. Like I said before, my testers said it was more than good enough for Matchmaking.
Ahhh Dammit Pel I wish i was online I so wanted to play this and try it out. I see you work on the damn thing and I dont get to play it. (sad face) Well anyway nice job on this map it deserves alot of credit especially for the unique way of how the map was biult. I like this map alot mostly for the fact it plays symmetrically and is aysemmetrical in general. Nice job Pel.
Don't worry, man. I'll definately be playing this a lot more since it's so damn fun. I also need gameplay videos for the Atlas post. Spam much?
Finally you posted it, but at 3:00 in the morning. How you can type up a post at 3 in the morning is beyond me. But I can say that you did a wonderful job on the map. I love the gameplay on the map, at first I didn't know what to expect, but when we actually played it I just loved it, it plays so well. The aesthetics are great, like the bases and the sub-bases, and I love the ghost, which you saw me in a lot, even in the pictures. The only think I can think to add is maybe a grav-lift somewhere, maybe under the plama pistol bridge or on the middle of the stepping stones so that you can be sneaky getting into the base by going over the wall. Might be kinda cool. And hopefully spawns continue to be great. Nice job, looking to play this again. -Dylan
That Grav Lift suggestion is actually awesome. I'll try that out, and hopefully it will be cool. I dont know what to replace it for, though(DAMN YOU OLN!!!).The only problem I forsee is someone throwing the Grav Lift in the Grav Lift, which is a turn off.
Lol, that's just retarded. It wouldn't do anything for the person who threw it, it would just sit there on the lift and possibly make it easier to get up. Think about it, but I want to see how it plays with it.
You have to think about some of the idiots that are going to be playing this after I get the Atlas post up(crosses fingers). Generally, the people in Matchmaking aren't the brightest bunch. I'll definately give it a try though.
The layout of this map looks pretty original and I love how you geomerged the ramps over at the bases. The ghost on this map was a nice touch since most crypt maps don't have a vehicle at all.
Yeah, geomerging is abundant on this map, especially with ramps. In addition to the Ghost, there's also a Mongoose at each base.
This looks like its got some amazing gameplay. I dont understand why it isnt an MLG map though. Remove the ghosts, and your set!!! You leave me amazed, baffled, and confused. Somebodies happy =) But, I agree with the testers.
Thank you, sir. I actually didn't notice the MLG weapon set until you pointed that out. I'll try an MLG version out tonight when I get more Atlas tests in. I'm also making a Covie version and a Heavy version(LOL!) of it. And yes, I am happy. I actually didn't have to change anything from the original design after I ran tests for once!
PELLLLL! What up? Your map was amazing. How many changes were there since you posted the preview? The angled rocket launcher is epicsauce, and the corner bases have a nice design to them. I like the arch aesthetics, never would have thought to do something like that. May be we could play this together sometime...
Since the preview, I've finished the Blue sub-base and layed down the spawns. The angled Rockets were accidental, but I like how they turned out. The arches were actually the first thing I did on the map, and I built around them. I'm actually getting on LIVE now to get some more gameplay videos in for the Atlas post I'll be putting up later tonight. I'll invite you. Updated OP with link to Atlas thread.
