Alright, first day, and my first yearbook assignment is to design a press pass.

its for the yearbook crew, and the school newspaper, and the photography class. i will probably invert th colours for the newspaper and the photography i will do something different..

anyways, its due in two weeks so i have time to brainstorm. the first thing that came to mind was a very simplistic pass..

btw, "Monticola" is the name of our yearbook team. i wrote it multiple times to text different font styles... if i could just get your advice, im gonna be doing multiple styles...

anyways, hows the first one look?

EDIT: omg i didnt realize the image was so huge! its 4x6 in. at 720 resolution. the blank spot in the center is where the photo will go

So, the versions: (will update with more)

    Plain Red,

4 variations of the "Monticola" font, not shown

    Bulldog variations of the above

How big is it gona be? For the size i am imagining, i would say the writing may be too small? Perhaps it should be wider? Ones i have seen are usually landscape, like the size of a credit card.

Personally I don't like red but thats completely just me.

For the layout I would move the white box up a tad and make the "Monticola" stuff smaller.

    Looks good for a start.

ours have been in portrait normally, and slightly larger than a credit card

I'd go with the 3rd font or the same font as the part that says PRESS ACCESS. As for the colors, the red looks a bit too bright, maybe a darker shade of it? Then for the other two you could have Navy Blue/White Lettering or Kelly Green/White Lettering or Black/White Lettering. Anything that's easy on the eyes, and easy to read.

just updated with the two newest versions. i stuck with the more cursivey font, and ive got all of the other fonts on invisible layers behind so i can change it at any time.

Im gonna stop at this point, and work on new ideas that are popping into my head right now. il come back to this after i show the class a few ideas at a time.

(btw, we are the bulldogs obviously, and you cant see the soft brush on the bulldogs face when printed on a small card, i checked ;))

I just finished making press passes for my school newspaper. I used something about business card size. Looked pretty nice.
