So i just moved into college yesterday. No wireless in my dorms Took a while to get my laptop setup but got that all ready. Today i unplug my computer from the internet plug the cord into my Xbox so i could get a couple of matchmaking games in and download the maps in my Que and it couldn't connect when i tested my connection it found the network but wouldn't connect to the internet? I don't know what the problem is but its gonna suck if i can't get on at all. and then if i ever finish one of the maps i start i won't be able upload it. Any suggestions?
My old flat at uni had internet but had limited bandwidth or something so I could only surf the internet and not play games or download loads of stuff. I'm guessing this may be the case with your dorms, although a bigger bandwidth was available at my place, it cost a lot of money.
Plug an ethernet from your xbox to you comp/laptop then have that hooked to the web, then go into your network places, click your xbox and then your tinterweb, right click then bridge. Should work. Get back too me.
No password. i had to register my computer use their free virus protection and uninstall any file-sharing programs will my computer have to be connected to the internet while this is happening?
yes. connect your computer to the internet and then connect your xbox to your computer. it will share the connection.
This has happened to me. It may work, i cant explain it. I did it a while ago, and my xbox is broken But go into your iP setting for your xbox and make sure THEY ARE NOT still your old setting, at your last location. I believe there is a choice called automatic, use that. Worked for me. Sorry again if its hard to follow!
the only problem i have is i will only not be able to connect the laptop to the xbox and to the internet. i only have one ethernet cable and only one ethernet plug on my laptop. and no wireless... i guess i won't be gaming anytime soon. i'll look into the the ip settings. thanks foo all the input.
got the laptop about a month and a half ago so if 7 is older then that it might be what came on it. but a wireless broadcaster would not do much good for me as i never spent the $100 for the wireless plugin for my xbox
I still havnt gotten around to trying yet seeing as how i just woke up but when i walked by someone on my floors room his door was open and he was playing some matchmaking. so if i cant get it i'll just ask him how he got his working
Okay so i figured out the problem. When we I registered my laptop there is a spot on the website to add a device. i just rushed through the site so i could get the internet up. Only problem is how do i find out my MAC (Media Access Control) address for my xbox?
# Click on Start, and then click on Run. # The Run dialogue box will appear. Type CMD and press Enter. # A DOS window will appear. This is also commonly called a Command Prompt. # Now type IPCONFIG /ALL at the command prompt and hit Enter. The window will display the configuration of all of your network adapters. If you have multiple network adapters in your PC you'll see multiple addresses. The MAC Address you're looking for will be listed under the heading "Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection." # Now look for the Physical Address. It should look something like 00-50-BA-D1-BA-71. # To close the window when you are finished, type Exit at the command prompt and press the Enter key. Credits go to google. I hope that helps.
thanks alot to every that helped. i finally got it. and Dthen thank you but i had a typo i was looking for my 360's MAC address but i did find it. I had to wait 2 hours for it to authorize the system but i got a confirmation email. i just havnt had a chance to try it out because of classes.
