For a few months I have been looking for a capture card that did not require output jacks, which I couldn't. I also required it to be HD. I just recently stumbled upon this little beauty, which I might be getting for my birthday or christmas if my family can afford to, which we most likely will. It's the Hauppauge 1212. It comes in at around $200 on amazon, which is a bit expensive, but I think well worth it for HD. It also does not require output jacks as do most capture cards. It takes the picture from the xbox itself, not the TV, and loops it to the TV so you can still view it. Quality is pretty nice if I do say so myself. Here's a video showing off it's youtube quality: YouTube - Der Riese: A.I. Barrier Glitch Tutorial What do you think? Should I get it? Or does someone have a better recommendation? If you're thinking of getting it don't go to best buy, go to amazon. The price is roughly $100 cheaper.
Wow that's great quality. I didn't even play it in HD... I would get that if you had the money... Hell, I might look into getting a new capture card
TBH, it all depends on the quality you render it. You can get great quality from SD cards and render it out in HD .avi then upload to youtube for a few hours because its incredible file size -.- TBH you could go buy a HD capture card and by all means upload it to youtube, but why would you wanna wait 5 hours uploading a HD file when you can do exactly the same with an SD card..
It is worthwhile when you get incredible quality videos such as this to wait for those 5 hours. I understand what you're saying with the SD card getting good quality. It's true, they can get good quality, but you can tell the difference between good quality and Incredible quality. I would get the card if I were you, that is if you're gonna get your monies worth by using it to it's full potential and take time over making your videos!
And not to mention, when you show videos and such to your friends or upload them as just files, not to youtube, the HD makes a real difference.
I've got that Bad Boy. It's an absolute BEAUTY, I love it! The Software which comes with it (TotalMedia, ArcSoft) is really easy to use and the quality is amazing. Having also bought the Dazzle 170 Platinum, I can say that Hauppauge is much better. The Dazzle took hours to set up correctly, and even then it didn't work on 3 out of 4 laptops which I've tried (not all mine lol). I had to download a patch in order to get it to record in colour and it was a nightmare. With the Hauppauge, I simply installed the Software, plugged my baby in and I was away. Although the Hauppauge is more expensive, I think that it's worth every single penny. I don't mean to advertise my videos, but if you want to see the difference between the Dazzle 170's quality and Hauppauge's quality, "Bungie Day Rube Goldberg" was filmed with the Dazzle and "Anti-Camping Advert" was captured with Hauppauge [you can find both videos under my sig].
Amen to Scottash, I was the one that spent 5 hours with him trying to sort out the Dazzle... Did in the end but was not worth the time seeing as it worked on one busted 7 year old laptop that couldn't survive without charger and had a spot near battery which if you pressed turned off laptop, and it was in black and white without running Amcap at the same time, which made NO sense... Hauppauge...FTW
