I'm really sick and tired of this. I joined xbox live 3 years ago. I was foolish enough to type in my real age. And for 2 years, I was able to download anything I wanted. Then, one day, they decide to change the rules, and have an update, that suddenly made it so I can't download anything because I'm 15. I really don't understand the sense in this because you know that somewhere, an older person may share an xbox with a younger person, or a parent might be totally fine with their fifteen year old son seeing a bit of gore and... there are just so many reasons and examples why it's dumb I can't even list them. And if I turn off all locks in the preference section, and turn off all locks on xbox.com, I STILL cannot upgrade to an adult account. If I email xbox support, they tell me, look kid, your a kid. So, I've searched high and low for some kind of way to upgrade to an adult account. If you know a way, please tell me.
me two i put im my real age. I just made a new gamertag made and email age 17+ an there u go u can dl stuff. But i rather dl things on my gammertag
I'm guessing the update came out of complaints or issues over minors downloading mature content in some form or another. From their perspective, they likely have a legal responsibility to enforce age restrictions on content wherever possible, this being an obvious part of that. I suppose it's easy for me to say this, as this isn't a problem for me, but you can hardly blame them for living up to legal requirements in stuff that they are liable for. Sure people will always slip through the system in ways like those you said, but tbh they can only ever enforce this when people are truthful about the age of anyone using the GT in question, and when people are truthful, MS have a responsibility to enforce age restrictions. Still, it does seem a little over the top to restrict you from downloading anything at all. As for getting around it, I'm guessing that there's probably no easy way, there's certainly no way that I know of. If they enforce this as a rule, and refuse to change it upon request, it would seem logical that they haven't left a way to change your registered age. The only option I can think of is registering a new GT like Camofo said.
I don't remember how I have an adult account, being 16 and getting an xbox at 14, but somehow I think grif got around it, he downloads anything and everything
I don't think there is a way to switch the email attached to a specific GT. Me and my friend looked everywhere for the option when he got sick of having to type out the long-ass email he used to register it every time he recovered his account, and we never found a way.
I have the same problem. They really need to do something about this. However, the best way to get around it is to buy everything on a silver account, and then transfer the license over the internet, which I think you can only do once a year.
The only way I know how you can do this is to wait until your actually 18 so that the xbox sees your 18 and then you get the option on your xbox to turn into an adult account. I had an account I accidentally put as 17 then the next year *This year* I am able to turn it into an adult account but its a old one so I don't really care
I guess I didn't clarify: At one point Grif had a child account and couldn't download much, but now I think he is able to download anything.
lie- call them and say your the dad and your son made this account, which he doesnt use and tell them to change it, they cant sat much to that
Like the others said make a new email and use it to make a new 18+ GT and use that gt to Download stuff.
