Created By: squidhands Recommend Players: 1v1 Recommended Gametype: Conflict Forge Hub 1v1 Conflict - Round 2 (Winners Bracket) Crown of Flies is an asymmetrical map built in the sky bubble of Sandbox. Despite it's larger size, CoF is deceptively easy to navigate and quick to traverse when the need arises. Multiple pathways from the between levels allow for a swift escape, or a timely interception of a fleeing opponent. As well, tactical jumps create fluid pathways for skilled players to maneuver the playing field, and crush their opponents. Clutch combatants will slip from your grasp using Camo to Red, or gain the high ground using OS to Blue snipe. A somewhat modest weapon layout is bolstered by both Camo and Overshield, which spawn later into the match. The inclusion of two Sniper Rifles on short timers will remove any doubt of who is the more skilled shooter. Mid- to long-range battles are the order of the day here, so make sure to practice up on your Battle Rifle combat, and predicting your opponent's movements and actions will be the key factor in surviving this round. I remember playing this a long time ago with 1 custom and 1 sniper, and i thought it was tricky to hold down. 2 snipers and 2 powerups is going to be messy.
Two snipers on a short timer? nice How short is the timer exactly? edit* i don't have permission to look at Nostromo it works now
this map looks beautiful and with the variety of power ups and 2 snipers means we could see some amazing games coming out of this. Can't wait to see some gameplay footage from people playing on it in the tourny and hopfully i will be playing on it as part of the tournament aswell!
You know, if I were to have the chance to go back in time to 2007, and show myself pictures of maps that would be possible to make in forge within the next 2 years, this would definitely be one of them. I'd probably look at myself and say, there is no way that came from forge, tell myself I was just drunk and seeing things, and go on living my life as if the incident had never occured until today. Really, great job. People like you have changed the way we look at map editors, and halo 3 squidhands.
This. I've been so intrigued by the banners posted in all the updates that came from this map. It's beautiful. It does look a little large for 1v1, but I'll just have to see for myself then. Great work, squid. You rule.
This is definately already my favorite sandbox map. It has all that I want in a skybubble map. Great job on this one.
I forgot to ask this in the first round's map thread, but does this count as a featured map? I didn't think so, but so many people have been thinking this is a feature thread rather than the map thread for each Conflict Tourny map. It truly does look like an amazing map, and from what it seems these tourny maps are just going to keep getting better and better. Whether or not I make it to round 2, this is staying on my hard drive for awhile now. (Of course I'm making it to round 2!)
Mine as well. Squid's now the author of my two favorite skybubble maps (the other is Avarice).. and I've seen maps you guys haven't yet Its certainly worthy of the feature, and thats all that really matters. i did a forge through, and it looks really nice. although fairly confusing. it took me the better part of 15 minutes to get it down. im not in the tournament, but if you are it seems like a lot of practice would be beneficial.
Please don't make me get started. Squidhands, you rule. Keep going far with your maps. I'm gonna start destorying forge the way you do. With one innovation at a time, maybe 10. Great work and keep the forge real.
oh and i thought when i was doing my forge through i saw camo and CPU, not camo and overs. im not positive though. i thought there was CPU by the outside spawn.
Very cool map! The Style and Gameplay are well thought. I hope, that I will win my first match to be able to play the next round on this map.
I didn't make it online in time to sign up for this tourney... But I saw Squid post this was up on MLGpro and I must say..WOW..This will be on my Harddrive for a while...Thank you Squid for bringing the total of 1v1 maps I actually enjoy up to 6.
Yeah this is a well thought out, beautiful map. You really took in thought different approaches to different areas and it came out great. I was a little worried about the 2 snipers on such a short timer but its like the sniper battle of the tournament. Its also easy enough to counter that snipe too. Great job.

EDIT: Oh, and for people that like to know these things: 2 - Sniper Rifles (60sec, 0 clips) - dropspawn 2 - Battle Rifles (10sec, 2 clips) 2 - Covenant Carbines (10 sec, 1 clip) 1 - Plasma Rifle (60sec, runtime max 1) 2 - Fragmentation Grenades (30sec) 2 - Plasma Grenades (30sec) 1 - Custom Powerup (90sec, no to start) 1 - Active Camouflage (120sec, no to start)
While I partially agree about the filter(It does look kick-ass). OVs force map movement, by placing them in weak places(On this for example on the outer edge of the map..A basically useless otherwise point) you are forced to keep moving. Also, as Squid has done here, having both the OV and Camo on the map respawning on different times forces even more movement. Basically adding a meta-game instead of just a "Camp/run-n-gun" 1v1 scenario that most people are more used to.
