"...take in time game to recognize him." Priceless, consider this +rep.

I regularly turn on history/discovery channel docs (on netflix) while I forge. Keeps me interested. lol

I usually go into bookstores to pick up fiction, and generally have an idea of who/what I want to read, but I always end up with the same bored feeling when it comes down to it.

I haven't tried that with nonfiction though. I did receive the book "Germs, Guns and Steel" a while back, which I never read. Suppose I should get around to it.

If we aren't counting books, I read up on nonfiction stuff all the time. I could sit and read articles all day long before ever picking up a book. I'm interested in science and history but rhetoric and political theory are my guilty pleasure (though it's pretty apparent considering that's all I really do on FH). I haven't necessarily read up on either of the latter, but the odd mention or short here or there gets ingrained in my head.

I've only recently "heard of" (in terms of interest) Carl Sagan. Someone posted a halo-reach video with music and Carl Sagan's "Pale Blue Dot" speech and I was amazed.

I'm trying that already. I read the majority of "Rant" by Chuck Palahniuk in one sitting the other day. Going to read "Game of Thrones" soon. Hopefully it works out to where I enjoy reading, but I don't know.

What nonfiction do you read? Or rather, any you prefer?

Ahhh I've always been interested in that stuff, but I never really sought it out as a career, in fact it seems we're on opposite ends as I'm looking to pursue writing (in some fashion) as my main support.

I hardly read as well, I hate the very act of reading. I could love a book and praise its ingenuity, but I can't help stay my boredom as I'm reading it. Though I am trying my hardest to actually finish books lol.

As for it being a hobby, you never know, maybe something you write will end up popular, which is what I'm relying on.

      Studying what?

And yeah I need to get a job soon...still trying alternative means so that I won't need to get into the service industry (which I wouldn't mind so much if I could talk to customers, like a job at a comic shop, game store or movie rental place, but they're sparse, tight and now-outdated, respectively), mainly through writing. But breaking into literature, tech journalism or comics is very much a sink-or-swim, experience or no-go type of situation.

Ah I thought you were 25, and I figured you were American but not many are up at this hour.

In school or are you already working?

      Indeed.

I'm curious though, how old are you and are you British?

I agree. I can easily design 20 maps in my head for CoD simply because I can imagine player flow in regards to a "place" and I know exactly how they'd play out.

I can't do that with Halo. Geometric arenas, though "simpler" in design compared to, well landscapes, offer too many avenues of travel to take into account (as many tend to be open and have multiple, intersecting lines of sight, CoD is just a bunch of hallways, essentially).

Speaking of gray blobs, I can't stand that they brought down the amount of lights we can use from 4 to 2. grahhh

You can't really make an organic environment in reach. Urban ones aplenty if anything. Here's to hoping we get a computer-based editor for their next game.

What's hilarious is, I told myself in halo 3 "wow these maps suck" because Halo 2 was an unmatched multiplayer experience. But there aren't any original maps in Reach that I've grown to enjoy (like the Pit or Construct, and to a lesser extent, Guardian). That being said, I've seen a few competitive maps in customs that have blown me away, hopefully they get implemented into matchmaking.

And the experience you're describing, happened to me during the switch from CoD4 to MW2. I thoroughly enjoyed CoD4's multiplayer but MW2's went to hell in a handbasket. However, I did play it endlessly and got enjoyment out of playing smart and bossing a bunch of teammates around to victory. I would've loved MLG support solely for the fact that I could've gone pro at that game :C

Does that ship map use Invasion or?

Oh I know exactly what you mean. They took one step forward and two steps back. They should have just kept everything from Halo 3 in (gametype settings, movable objects, etc) and expanded on it, rather than taking random stuff out and swapping new things in.

On the other hand, I enjoy the core experience of Reach far more than its immediate predecessor (despite armor lock woes). As such, I not only play matchmaking quite often, but I also have several competitive-casual/minigame maps in the making.

One of which I've been testing lately already has a following. XD

but pointing out mistakes can be fun :O

and yeah I have but it hasn't been "released" so to speak. Tritium, I made it with CorduroyCHUCK. I'm going to post it as soon as some side projects related to it are finished (namely another guide to infection mapmaking and a promotional machinima). Warning though, it's an infection map made for forgetacular.

It plays damn well in any case.

      Have you forged at all?

where have you been and what have you been doing, because it clearly hasn't been releasing maps or budding with buddha over who can say the most non-sequiturs in the same thread.

Very glad to hear it, I honestly fret over these debates more than I should, considering the general lack of reasoning. Thanks for joining in... the human aspect of free market is much harder than the environmental I think (hence I'm avoiding it)

Did you ever do that Cattle Rustling map? I'm looking at some old ideas, and I remember loving that one.
