8v8 Capture the Flag

Map Description

  1. Dyl
    Originally a settlement for troops and refugees, this canyon has begun to serve as a testing site for future Covenant technology.

    This map has a unique balance. The sun-lit rock wall features more traditional close quarters actions, with little room for vehicles to maneuver (reminiscent of Blood Gulch's caves and rock paths). The shadow side is more open, and supports vehicles much better. The central camp is open, with cover mostly being available on the outskirts of the tents.

    In CTF, the blue flag/base is situated in a high elevation area. To balance this for red team, there is a tucked away man cannon on the vehicle side of the map, partly out of the blue team's view. This jumps straight toward the blue flag.

    Just some thoughts I'd like to lend. You have a lot of really great environmental detailing. You've clearly thought about what plant life and constructed props should be on here, the only thing I would suggest is segregating each element to its own part of the map. You can mix some into each others areas but make each section clearly defined by one key item. This way, your map will look structured and clean. Also, players that spawn around the map will have a better idea of where they are in relation to the overall layout by identifying whats around them.

    I can see you've already tried this, but I feel like there's not enough emphasis on making each area as unique and notable as it should be.

    I completely agree. I did this a little bit towards the front of blue base / man cannon, with the "trees." I will try and add more segregation between the plants to have better differences in some key areas. Thank you!
