Hello everyone!
I'm back with another Halo 5 minigame! My goal here was to create something truly unique using Halo 5's vehicle welding glitch. I had an initial idea of creating weak points on Halo 5 vehicles by welding explosive barrels to them and it evolved into a minigame of its own. Introducing: Wrecking Crew!
Gametype: Wrecking Crew (Strongholds variant)
Map: Wrecking Crew (Forged on Glacier)
Recommended player count: 10-16 (Red vs Blue)
Wrecking Crew, I believe, is one of my most interesting maps because of the attack-defend gameplay in which the map seems entirely different for both teams. In fact, players never see an opponent for the entire game.
The objective of Wrecking Crew is fairly simple, but definitely requires explanation for first time players.
With this map I set out to create the illusion that the Forge object cars were driving on their own. Scout Warthogs are underneath the floor for the attacking team and their objective is to run into the whales. Above ground, however, the map seems entirely different. There are 8 towers towards the middle of the map upon which the defending players are standing. The defenders must remain on these towers or die. Each of the Warthogs under the map being driven by the attacking team is welded to a car above ground with an explosive barrel on it. If the defending team shoots theses barrels with their Halo CE Pistol, the car will despawn and the Warthog underneat of it will explode, killing the attacker driving it.
The objective for the defenders is to stop the cars from driving into their tower. If a car hits one of the towers (Warthog under the map hits a whale) the car will explode and the tower will fall thus killing the player standing on it. At the end of the round, the defending team will earn a point if they are able to have at least one surviving member and the attacking team will earn a point if they are able to eliminate all the defenders.
So there you have it, Halo 5 minigame number 3.
This map required more testing than any map I've made before it and I have to thank everyone that assisted. I could not have done this without you.
A special thanks goes out to Sideward Sally for constantly jumping in and out of Forge/Custom Games with me to preform small experiments. I also need to thank @Psychoduck as I used his Attack-Defend tutorial for some aesthetic color changes between rounds.
Please give this a try and let me know what you think. I'm already planning a few minor tweaks to the map and gametype after feedback, but I will not "Save As" so the bookmark should always be updated no matter when you bookmark it. I am always open to constructive criticism.
Thanks for reading and I hope you all enjoy!
Cheers
