Map Description

    Welcome to the 7 Layer's our first linear infection map for Halo 5.

    This map takes a concept we stumbled upon by accident and uses it as the basis for the map, we found that the destructible wall pieces never completely destroy when you apply max damage to them, however they instantly fall apart when shot and when you put a bunch of them together it gives the illusion of digging, this can also be used with the natural walls as well (although you cant apply max damage.)

    While the digging concept is cool we didn't only want digging since that would be fairly boring on its own, so the map splits into 2 sections which both have unique, yet similar environments.

    The Void (An extremely dark and cramped area that is easy to die in)

    The Soul River (a longer but extremely cramped area with lots of turns but you can see)

    Once you get past here and into the demons mouth you can start on the final stretch, which is pushing a ball of light through a pitch black tunnel while you and your teammates dig, here you get a gravity hammer to help you but be warned it will be very difficult to see the infected coming, once you get past here you must push the ball into the hole to open the door. Here is the final area, the entrance to hell, if you make it to the entrance you win the round.

    The game itself is fairly standard, the humans get SMG's with infinite ammo to dig and kill with and the infected will try to kill you. You will get some time to spare before they start attacking you, so use this time to pick your route and distance yourself. Last man standing is almost always on (11 players) as well to prevent hiding and basically force everyone to keep pushing forward.

    The map played well with many groups on the customs browser, if you feel like something ruined your experience or you just want to leave a backwards compliment i'm more than happy to hear it.

    I also highly recommend not playing this with a small lobby,it will not be nearly as fun.

    343 please unblock hell from being used in the name of maps, I am using a currency symbol for the E and it looks ridiculous.

  1. I played this a while ago. while the idea seems cool, it wasnt fun. It plays like the classic linear maps from halo 3 but with a nicer skin. linear maps have evolved since then and these days, players want more.

    The cool style this map has, I thought made the map a bit confusing at times as it made what is a simple linear path into something I almost felt lost in. Maybe this was your goal but I think it turns players off.

    Once I got to the objective of pushing the boulder, suddenly the map went from easy (minus the poor navigation) to super hard. I never got past that point and never felt incentive to do so as I was bored with everything else before it which felt like 3 or 4 minutes of the map.

    Even with everything halo 5 has to offer, this plays worse than the omega journey from halo 3 which im sure was your inspiration. I bet this was a learning experience for you. I went through the same. Ive learnt that people want condensed, well thought out gameplay within the first 3 minutes of a map. Less quantity, more quality when it comes to gameplay. I feel the best maps are the ones that manage to fit everything into short rounds yet still make it diificult to complete. I think that is what you should strive for with future linear maps.

    To be honest we gave up on 7 layers because of how hard it is to work with the destructible pieces, I mostly agree with the review above.

    The map has been broken and bad for a long time, I am not proud of it myself and I knew he would review it since its linear infection and he was probably pissed from my review. To work on the map you have to break every single piece in forge every time which is not fun (scripts do not break them either). The map in general is nearly impossible to balance due to the way it is built and we simply don't care enough about the concept to do much more. It sounds cool in theory but its very stressful to work with.

    You can not scale the destructible pieces to work well with large lobbies as well which was something we did not expect, the pieces get obliterated in full lobbies.

    Since the map is corrupted and overloaded from the destructible pieces scripts refuse to work,(it took me around 4 hours to get a simple teleporter to spawn, I wanted to have much more)

    This is in no way arguing with or disputing the review this is a bad map, this is just me explaining that the map is near impossible to work with. I spent nearly 40 something hours if not more just trying to get it playable and it made me nearly give up on Halo due to almost everything breaking, There are so many scripts and whatnot I wanted to add but everything just wanted to break.

    There are also too many digging areas as well, which is probably why you got bored, I know people expect more from linear maps and this was our attempt. We thought digging would be a really cool concept, and while it is a cool concept. it isn't as fun as it sounds, it would be better in small doses.

    We just thought the map looked cool and had a cool concept so we wanted to get it out here on FH anyways despite its insane amount of issues.

    I was pretty sure you werent happy with the map. im just giving you encouragement and a few helpful tips. This is all im going to say. I dont want things to explode again. And like ive already told you, all is forgiven.
