Map Description

  1. The Fated Fire
Once upon a time, three explorers dared to the stars in search of an ancient, ghostly space station storied to contain a powerful essence. This essence, known in myths only as the arcane heroism, was said to pervade this ancient space station within a ghost green-colored energy pulse. The stories foretold that the heroism essence could only be absorbed through the completion of a highly dangerous ritual that involved leaping and lifting over death pits, so upon finally discovering the space station, the explorers docked their three spacecraft, strapped on their thrusters and stabilizers, and began their leaping and lifting journey of heroic ascension. After several hours of vertical, ritualistic dance around the station, the explorers had yet to absorb any heroism…they needed to move faster…they needed more power! In a moment of great sacrifice, the explorers dismantled the cockpits and warp drives from their spacecraft in order to construct gravity lifts that would surely provide enough movement speed to unlock the arcane heroism. The explorers began the ritual yet again, using the new gravity lifts to launch from spacecraft to spacecraft across the void. Round and round the explorers went, moving faster and faster and faster until they simultaneously became consumed in a ghost green-colored light. It is said that the three explorers finally absorbed the heroism essence in this moment, but no one truly knows…blinded by the starlight, the three explorers collided over a death pit and fell into the void far below, disappearing forever. The three spacecraft and gravity lifts remain at this ancient, ghostly space station today for future use by other explorers seeking to find the heroism.

    9/5,
I Love the Tron feel this map has, it seems simple in geometry and shows that complex angles and curves aren't needed to have a beautiful map. Even though this map is made for small teams it played wonderfully chaotic for 8 on 8, with exciting encounters at every turn.

My only issue with the map is the power ups on the pads, they look like they are available even though they are still on CD.

    Amazing map!

    9/5,
Played on this on a rather team setting last night, and even though teams were too large for it I really loved this level. It looks badass, the layout is complex but not too confusing, and I like how it's set up with dual power-ups. It's really sleek and clean too.

The way the power-ups spawn on the weapon pads is a bummer because it seems like they are there 30 secs before they appear, which definitely caused some confusion in the match I played. But that's not on you - that's just a confusing aspect of the weapon pad animation. Hopefully that'll change in a future update and it won't be an issue in the future. You kinda have to live with it if you want them to be called out.

Overall , this is a really awesome map. I loved it and will be playing more on it in the future. Great work!

Is this really one of your maps? People have written novels about theirs and all you have is a list of weapons. Fated pls.

Looking forward to getting some games on this, although if I'm honest the minimalism is a stark contrast from what I've known you for. This looks straight out of the Tron universe, which isn't bad - and I'm a big Tron fan - but visually I assumed the map would be a bit more diverse.

There's a novel in the description now ;)

In regards to your second concern, I believe I have always exercised minimalism with the environment art on my maps. I found the 'Tron'-like environment art theme most appropriate for such a compact, vertical, catwalk-based design.

Your description now justifies the simplistic architecture and design you have shown us. Good job.

I wanted to give this map a spin but the download link is broken and I'm having trouble finding your gamertag on waypoint...would you be so kind as to update your description with a download URL?
