Map Description

Speedrun is a new take on the "run map" concept. Traditionally, these kind of maps had you frantically running through a linear tunnel with a kill ball rolling behind you.<br /><br />In Speedrun, I've replaced the kill ball with a moving hill. You must keep pace with the hill--you can't get ahead of it and you can't let yourself fall behind. Outside of the hill you can't move, and if you're left behind you'll soon be caught by a death teleporter.
The advantage of this kind of design is that Speedrun is able to feature multiple pathways, including some hidden routes. It's a refreshing break from the linear design common to run maps.
The design of the map is heavily inspired by Mirror's Edge and attempts to combine the normal aesthetic of the City with the abstract aesthetic of Mirror's Edge DLC.

  1. Cool idea. Not a big fan of the Indiana Jones Run game types, mainly because I could never finish, but this seems to solve that problem.

    10/5,
Great map and super fun , nothing else to say except download it now.. seriously stop reading and just download it!!
  3. O my God this is the funnest mini I've played in a while. We played it three times in a row and it never got tired. :D
  4. All round excellent map: clever concept, ingenious 'moving hill' contraption, well forged pathways, lots of fun, very re-playable, balanced difficulty ( jumps are not too hard, hill width is generous)...

Also when he says there are multiple routes, he doesn't mean just 3 or 5 separate paths, he means like every 3 seconds they'll be another opportunity to cross from one path to another, its very clever how he entwined them altogether, its impossible to take the same path twice and that's what makes it re-playable. Because you can't go ahead of the hill, faster paths aren't any more useful than slower ones, making a very balanced game.

It's also worth pointing out that this game is really fun just to play on your own if none of your friends are online.

Cool idea, petetheduck. I'll be sure to give this a download and check it out (never been a fan of these maps in the past, but this is refreshing and interesting, so I'll give 'er a shot.)
How'd you get the hill to move like that, out of curiosity?

I was playing this map Last night. It was so fun! I love the fact that you got the hill to move, it adds challenge through the whole map. The alternative routes were also fun, always exciting to see what the new route will bring. Thankyou for making this map, I'll definitely recommend it to my friends :)

Ingenious map, very nice finding about the Mantis. I love fast paced Parkour-like maps so I'll definitely give this one a try!

I don't know where you go to download the map and gametype. Theres no real link besides the one up top that says download map(84). That just sends me to the Halo website where to buy Halo 4.

You would have to do that in-game, there's a filebrowser in Halo 4 where you can search fileshares. Another option would be to search maps by typing in tags and getting results; for this example the perfect tag would most likely be "speedrun".

This looks like an awesome map. I use an Xbox 360 Slim, so I don't have access to file share on Halo 4 (or any other game). Is there any alternate way I could get this map?

Of course you do have access. This map was made on the Xbox 360 version of Halo 4.

So just head back to my previous message and there you go! :)

I don't think you understand what I mean. I have the 360 slim (which is the base model; it has a tiny 4 gigabyte hard drive). Because of this, I cannot access file share with my 360. So, as I said before, is there any other way I can get this map?

No. If you got such a small memory space the only way to play maps is to join other peoples' lobbies and play them there. Better buy a bigger hard drive, bruh!

Buddy, you are still not understanding what I'm saying. I can get people's maps, just not through file share. I use an external thumb drive to store them. The way I have obtained them before is by entering a forge lobby with them, and saving the map as my own. I was asking if anyone would be willing to do this, so that I can get the map.

Why didn't you explain yourself correctly in the first place then? Now I understand it. Well, just ask one of your friends to search Pete's fileshare and then put it on I guess... I don't know what the fuss is about.

I tried to make my point as clear as possible in my first comment, and I apologize for the misunderstanding. I have one other friend who plays Halo 4, and he uses a 360 slim as well. That is why I was asking if there was anybody I could get in touch with to get the map.
