With the new block coloring options in Halo 5's Forge (not to mention cylindrical blocks), I really wanted to do something Covenant-themed. Spire stuck out as one of my favorite maps in Halo: Reach, and was a great opportunity to practice working with the Covenant aesthetic. This was also my first attempt at Forging terrain, which was a fun learning experience.
But concerning the actual map, you may notice that half of it is missing. I decided to leave out terrain not surrounding the tower, as it was rarely used outside of Invasion (which isn't included in Halo 5). The action is instead focused on the area immediately surrounding the Spire. This also had the added bonus of saving big time on parts, which I ended up being very tight on. I tried to keep other changes minimal, though I did remove/rework most of the structures other than the Spire. The BFG has been removed completely, and the catwalk was replaced with a Covenant sniper tower. The Spire itself is smaller and more cramped than it should be due to a conversion error on my part, but only by a small degree.
Each team is given a Ghost, Warthog, and Phaeton off spawn, with the Phaeton replacing the Falcon from the original. Plasma Casters and Carbines are available nearby, in the same positions as before. Beam Rifles can be found in the Covenant Sniper tower, as well as on the ridge on the other side of the map. Two Plasma Pistols and two Needlers can be found within the bottom section of the Spire, as well as an Incineration Cannon in the tunnel underneath. I tried to keep the weapons and vehicles as similar to the original as possible, though I replaced any UNSC weapons with their Covenant/Forerunner counterparts for the sake of the theme. (would have done the same with the 'Hog were that an option)
Summit takes place on the Forerunner world of Kamchatka, visited in the first mission of the campaign. The battle for the planet is raging, and Jul is throwing everything he has left into it. To counter Forerunner anti-air defenses tearing up his fleet, he has deployed numerous teleportation spires in order to sneak forces in without risking his fleet. Though many of these towers now lack their shielding modules, which were repurposed for use elsewhere, they still provided a great advantage for Jul's forces. However, after Jul's death, many of theses Spires were left abandoned as the remainder of the fleet hastily regrouped for an attack on Sanghelios.
The map should be all ready for Slayer, with CTF and Stronghold support coming very shortly. I will be testing the map over the course of the next few weeks, making changes as I go, but its current form should be completely playable!
