Map Description

    Shadow of Intent

Named after the Covenant Flagship from Halo's campaign. Designed to be an exploration based map where Halo's Forge can accommodate the Covenant theme, somewhat tricky with the objects provided.

This was the first map posting since Halo 3, and also my first map not first designed out on paper.

I hope you like the aesthetics on this map, I'm open to any comments, and constructive criticism.

Really good Covenant aesthetic ! We really feel like if we were in the Truth and Reconciliation. Well made !

Sure other forgers should find inspiration from this map to create something more Covenant, with pieces which are not flat.

Don't know about the level design, but the aesthetic is really cool, nice job ;)

This map could definitely use different light placement. The lighting is sometimes misleading, or rather, some areas are not well lit, and do not guide the player along the playable paths very well. I found myself a little bit too disoriented. Also, more cover (covenant crates, maybe?) would be very helpful in the large, open rooms. The corridors/hallways are top notch though! Perhaps spice up the lighting with different colors?

@Black Racher, I'm glad you got the main point of the map, the aesthetics, the level design is by no means something I'd be happy with. Though I am happy with the "feel" of it.

@weeeeemann, I appreciate the honesty. I had a tough time with the lighting, the issue is you have to block out the "natural lighting" to make it dark enough forcing you to manually set the lighting, though this is limited by distance, when you go to the other end of the map, it all looks black. It's a shame, the only work around is to have smaller line of sights. I would have loved Covenant crates, they're not an available object, it's sad I know. Thanks for the feedback!

Hey not downloaded it yet, just looking at your screenshots, looks like you have captured the covenant look very well, its a shame that you cant play as elites in Halo 5, people could work with it for machinima styled videos.

Does this map have an exterior or is it interior only?

I believe there are power core objects that look pretty similar to covenant crates (but smaller).

@AH_SeanR, thanks for the comment! To answer your question, you can leave the ship and re-enter via a grav lift. Though there's nothing going on out there, it doesn't look like a cruiser from the outside.

@weeeeemann, yea I tried them. Not quite the same sadly, though I ran out of blocks anyway. I'll take this feedback on board though for another Covenant map. I may ask you to check out another one some time to get your opinion, if you don't mind :)

Sure, that'd be awesome! Also be sure to check out the map "Testament" by PolyGoner for a High-Charity themed map. PolyGoner gave me some really great ideas for covenant-themed maps (whenever I find more time to forge). I also have a friend, TwiseM, who is working on a Truth and Reconciliation map which thus far looks amazing. I also like your brig/prison area, which looks like the ones in the Halo 2 campaign where you fight the Brutes (also seen in a cutscene where Tartarus is walking, and there are Jackals in a caged prison-area). The more covenant-themed maps the better! Keep up the good work
