Seraph

Map Description

  1. Ascend Hyperion
    Welcome to Seraph
Seraph: Open World, is a causal exploration map. In total, it is is roughly 1/3 the size of Alpine and features several distinct areas and zones. Originally, Seraph was just a "proof of concept" map for me to practice a theme I wanted to use on a future 4v4 map. Over time the project grew and the world expanded and I couldn't bear to just abandon the map. So after awhile, I went and and broke the physics budget and kept building. I only stopped once I reached the invisible item glitch and then back peddled enough to hopefully correct the issue.

From a thematic standpoint, Seraph is a world far beyond our own galaxy. Seraph had gone undiscovered until a freak slipspace accident left an experimental UNSC ship and it's crew stranded in it's orbit. Closer observation of the planets surface revealed that ancient stone stone structures existed on it's surface. The planet is now loosely inhabited by an advanced nomadic race of aliens we have never seen before.

If you've got some spare time, feel free to hop on and explore the map. Leave feedback if you have any. Happy trails!

These light craft are capable of quick in-atmosphere trips and can even survive adrift in space. When paired with a Telepad, they can be used to beam physical contents anywhere on the Telegrid

Vegetation on Seraph draws water from it's over-saturated rocks and feeds on rich minerals built up over thousands of years of mass erosion

I remember this- I thought this was a great taste of creative freedom without adhering to any kind of game type, but rather a work of art to simply be explored, interpreted, and appreciated. Very nice work @Ascend Hyperion .

First of all I'm gunno sue you!
    Second of all, beautiful stuff.

The map got me really immersed into its setting, it constantly reminded me of other games but also kept its own true nature and atmosphere.

The exploration felt completely natural and free, I never once felt like I was forced to go down one route or another. It was nice to feel in control and I couldn't help but explore more and more as I ventured deeper into its beauty.

Its lighting was lovely, often adding extra beauty to certain parts of the map and overall it just felt completely unique.

A few places around the map had lighting issues and could of used more objects but given the nature of any object junkie I knew that it simply just wasn't possible. In all honesty though it didn't take anything away from the map itself and the minor flaws were overpassed with ease due to it being an open exploration.

I was tempted to review this but to be honest it didn't feel right, can we really truly put a review on art? I think not.

Overall beautiful stuff, like nature itself it was simplistic yet astonishing and had a consistently heart warming theme. Great stuff man ❤

Haha thanks for all the kind words. It's much appreciated.

Trust me, I wanted to add more stuff but I had to break the physics budget and later incurred the invisible item glitch, so I had to rewind to where that wasnt an issue.
