Sacred Icon Survival is my second infection map in the theme of remaking parts of campaign maps.
The concept is therefore very similar: humans will have to progress through the map to find better equipment to be able to survive the round. This time I tried to introduced some kind of mini-boss fights with vehicles that are supposed to represent sentinel enforcers from Halo 2.
The map supports once again 16 players.
Detailed walkthrough of the map with illustrations and gametype link below:
Humans will spawn at the top of the quarantine wall that surrounds the library just like in the Sacred Icon campaign mission.
Keep in mind that everytime you see a dead corpse, there is always a weapon near it that will help your squad to move forward.
To pass the first room, you will have to destroy one of the blue fusion coils that are inside the big pillar. Once done, the pillar will lift up and you will be able to drop down.
You will land in a small room with a shield door that will open in a few seconds to make sure that all the humans did go down. Watch out for these infected players that might also drop down and chase you!
The next step is a room with tons of cover. Human players will have to use their awareness to be able to stay alive as infected players can come around from many corners.
Once at the end, same story: destroy a fusion coil to lift up the pillar blocking the way to the following room, drop down and wait for the shield door to open.
Humans will then end up in a huge room with 4 main pillars maintaining a platform.
Human players will have to fight against infected players while trying to take down all 4 pillars. This time, infected players will also have some fun as they will get access to a Phaeton.
As a human player, you should not lose hope yet as they are multiple things that will help you to deal with that threat. First thing is a deployable shield panel that will add some cover to the map. Secondly, there are various heavy weapons placed around the room. If you manage to get them, that Phaeton won't last for long.
When you will manage to lift up the 4 pillars, a terminal will appear and will need interaction from a human player. Once activated, the platform will start going down and the gate will open. The Phaeton will automatically get destroyed if not already dead (this can also be a way of dealing with it).
The platform will head to the next room. That little trip won't be easy though: infected players will be launched on the platform from the clouds and they will also have access to two Phaetons. Humans can hide at the lower part of the platform if they dont have enough firepower (these two Phaetons will get destroyed once the platform reaches the next room).
The second gate will open and reveal the final room of the map where players will find more heavy weapons and will have to deal with another Phaeton until the end of the round.
Don't forget to bookmark the gametype that goes with the map to make sure that only infected players can drive vehicles and that the Helios Phaetons are not too resistant: Sacred Icon Survival
