Rigged

Infection

Map Description

"Truth is, the game was rigged from the start..."
Rigged is a remix of The Rig in the vein of R.I.P.TIDE, Malignant and Nerve Center. A dense fog covers the lower half of the map*, making it a dangerous place for humans to wander, but those brave enough will come across several useful items, such as a Chaingun Turret, SAW, Beam Rifle, Splinter Grenades and even an Ammo Locker.

The four main holdouts are the Cafe, Tower Two, Long Hall and Top Nest. Each is designed to have an Achilles heel, as it were. The Cafe has two entrances, the main entrance and a crouch route, which requires humans to be checking both entrances at all times. Tower Two and Top Nest both have routes around the outside of the map that the infected can use to attack survivors from behind, if they're not attentive. Long Hall only has one approach, but humans are given little time to react when infected turn the corner.

In terms of setting, the map takes place on one of the drilling platforms seen in the background of The Rig, which has been engulfed by a sandstorm. It has been left in disrepair, and since been encroached by the desert. Several sand banks have overflowed into the platform, and the corpses of previous workers can be seen around the map, often half-buried in the sand.

Feedback and constructive criticism are welcomed and encouraged, as I'm under no delusion that my first ever finished Infection map will be flawed. Topics I'm particularly interested in are weapon/grenade placement, spawns and which holdouts are over/under powered.

*In case anyone's wondering how I got the fog to cover only the lower half of the map, it's just a quirk when Forging on The Rig. When first starting on this map, I fiddled with fog settings (while standing on the upper half of the level) and was surprised to see no difference, even when it was at its maximum. I discovered later that it was only affecting the lower levels, for some reason, and so decided to integrate that oddity into my map as a risk vs reward system. I found that a Soft near fog with 0.4 scale, max brightness and thickness created the most dense fog, and so used that.

Lol me and my mate have been working on "Unrigged" a type of infection map on The Rig too ( I wanted to call it Rigged initially too lol). Just letting you know because i wouldn't want you to think we copied you. That said our maps will play and do look nothing alike (except the desert sand storm theme) from the looks of it. Our maps done we are just wanting to play test it some more.

No problem. Best of luck on your map. I'll be sure to take a look at it once you're done.
