Map Description

  1. FrostPhoenix0
    This map has been a long time in the making, and I'm not totally convinced the end product is worth it. In any case, this is the (almost) final product. I still need to fix a couple of minor things, and then add some more aesthetic touches.

    It's a BTB map inspired by the firefight level Installation 04 from Halo Reach and the second level of Halo CE, though much of the terrain is completely different to those maps.

    There are many interesting ways to traverse the map, most of the structures can be clambered onto, and I think that movement between the structures for infantry allows them to move around the map only slightly more slowly than a vehicle.

    I encourage you all to have a run through the map and offer some feedback. This has been an ongoing project of mine for a few months now and I'm SO HAPPY to finally be able to release it, if only so I can move onto other WIPs.

  1. Very aesthetically accurate and well done map. All of the structures fit the same theme, or style, and nothing feels out of place. Plays very well with BTB and sniping of course is really fun. The vehicle play is also great. I would perhaps put less ammo in the Halo CE magnums, if possible.

    Originally I did, but I was trying to change the thumbnail to a different image and so started to delete pics to rearrange (I can't see a clear option to do it any other way). Turns out it still didn't change the thumbnail. Interesting choice. New pics going up now.

    Looks amazing, especially the light bridges! #omg. Also, did you try setting the map to "Overcast"? It might look cool with overcast and some cyan/light blue distance fog, just a thought. Played 1v1 snipers only with a friend, not a full test obviously, but no complaints thus far. My friend suggested the buildings could perhaps have a bit more external detail/additional coloring (but personally I think the forerunner structures look great, as they aren't supposed to have tons of color to them in Halo). I will keep you updated when we have full playtests

    Thanks for testing! I am hoping to be able to add more detail to the spire, if I can find places to optimise the map. You were able to get the correct version? I'm pretty sure I have an earlier version of the map under the same name, which had a camo instead of speed boost.

    I'm really digging that Reach look. Installation 04 was my favorite Firefight map, and I remade it in H4. This completely blows my old one away. Bravo.

    I believe it was the correct version, although we played with power-ups/placed weapons off and just did snipers/swords. I will let you know how any future, full-scale tests go. Good work thus far!

    If you haven't already, consider adding a neutral intro camera for FFA modes. A static camera too perhaps, for things like Breakout.
