Map Walkthrough Video
Polarity is a small symmetrical 4v4 arena map, and is my first serious attempt at forging a competitive map. My main goal was to keep things very simple, and to make quick movement from area to area a high priority. I wanted to keep an open feel to the map while keeping it physically small. Polarity is optimized for all slayer variants, CTF and Strongholds.
Strongholds is especially fun and almost always becomes a hectic back-and-forth battle where the lead changes often. Most games have been decided by less than 10 points.
Red Base / Blue Base
Red Ledge / Blue Ledge
- serve as initial spawns
- inner sections have SMG and Shotgun spawns, and grav lift up to the nearby Ledge area
- shotgun spawns with minimal ammo to keep it from being too OP
- very cool lighting inside the bases
- Porch on the outside of each base serves as an alternate route from the ground up to the ledges, and has a BR spawn
- the roof of the base is accessible through clamber or long jump
Light Bridge
- the ledges see a lot of action during objective gametypes
- provides high ground but exposes player (minimal cover)
- player can see most of the map
- fast access to trench via ground pound
Trench
- connects the ledges and allows for super quick transport of the flag
- activated by interacting with monitor on either end of the bridge
- deactivates fairly quickly
- when via Light Bridge the ledges form an 'S' shape
