Outlands

4v4 Slayer

Map Description

Outlands is a 4v4 map built using Riptide as a canvas (more specifically the area above Riptide where the skybox is still present) and is optimized for gametypes that have sprint disabled (all other abilities are accommodated, in fact clamber is needed to reach some areas).

In terms of layout, Outlands is an asymmetric 4v4 multiplayer map with a circular hill in the center with a long-abandoned pelican crash site serving as a centerpiece. Red and Blue bases are situated in opposite corners of the map, with Red Base on the higher side of the map, and Blue team on the lower side.

Power weapons include Lawgiver, which can be found in the cave, a DMR (Bayonet), impaled in the corpse of an Elite, and a Void's Tear/Scattershot fusion I have labeled as Void's Rend, which spawns on the central rock tower.

Also, for whatever reason your weapon's ammo may regenerate, though this is rare. Not by much, usually one or two rounds, you'll notice it more on the Battle Rifle than any of the other weapons.

    Weapons on Map
    • Assault Rifle, x2, 20 seconds
    • Battle Rifle (Silenced), x2, 40 seconds
    • DMR (Bayonet), x1, 90 seconds
    • Lawmaker, x1, 180 seconds
    • Plasma Grenade, x4, 30 seconds
    • SMG (Projection Sight), x2, 45 seconds
    • Storm Rifle, x2, 45 seconds
    • Void’s Rend (Scattershot + Void’s Tear), x1, 180 seconds (1 spare clip)

Not going to lie I really like how this map Looks. I do have a couple concern's/questions.
1: It may be the picture's them selves but, the map looks really open. As in even though there is quite a bit of variation in height, It doesn't look to have a lot of cover.
2: This is more of a question. Why riptide?
3: "Void's Rend". All though creatively named not sure how to feel about having the combined weapon's on a map. They are a very cool idea but belong more to fiesta game types(that's more of an opinion take it how you will).
Other then that I do truly like this map and looking forward to see more of it!

Thank you for your feedback, to address your concerns/questions:
1: The map does have some forms of cover, namely the trees and rocks scattered throughout the map, though the pictures don't show these off very well, though some of the areas may be revisited to add in more cover objects.

2: As to why I chose Riptide, I wanted to make a map that is not part made from any of the Forge Canvases, in this case, I viewed Riptide as being one of the non-canvas maps with the more interesting skyboxes. Working on a map like this was an odd experience as I tried to avoid having any of the Pelicans cutting through the terrain. It also served as practice for when I make future out-of-map canvases.

3: With the hybrid weapon glitch it has allowed for some weapons that would not be serviceable on competitive maps (Ad Victorium+Spartan Laser being one of the more notable), others may have homes in competitive maps. With scattershot utilized, it was chosen mostly due to the interesting mechanics behind it (not zooming in will use the standard plasma pistol projectile, which is safer but inaccurate at longer ranges; zooming in uses Void's Tear's charged shot with the Scattershot's spread pattern, but can be dangerous to the operator at close range) though I can see your concern, I'll look at the spawning time/clip size to see what I can do to even it out.

Mk to the above lol. I'm in the midst of going through and finding maps with no feedback, downloading, then playing. Your map is in my list so once we get a play test in ill come back and revise my comments. But for now I cam truly excited to see how this plays out!
