Marooned

Map Description

Welcome to Marooned. Well, I mean, you didn't choose to end up on this island.. But here you are!

You already know this is an aesthetic map. You already know it's set on a tropical island, and I know I don't feel like typing a full fledged description at the moment. So here are some simple details...

The lightmap percentage is waayy over 100% so naturally there will be a few black rocks or plants here and there but, don't worry too much, I made sure there's not too much of that crap. The object count has almost been maxed out as well so you will experience frame rate drop on the beach. This should be fixed once you've moved a little further into the island.

I really wanted to shroud players with overpopulated shrubbery to induce that feeling of being lost in a jungle. Hopefully I did a good job and you enjoy the scenery. This effect is doubled when playing the Cast Away version of Marooned.

Marooned was created to look best on the stormy skybox with medium rain however you're not wrong when thinking
"Hey..these screenshots are on the clear skybox"
Well after finishing the stormy version of the map, all the water effects, lightening, and disabled rain areas were erased for some reason. If you don't mind those specific details being left out then I encourage you to check out the stormy skybox and flip on the medium rain. I will be refinishing the stormy version of Marooned (Which I'm calling "Cast Away") soon :).

Please let me know what I can do to improve my forging ability.

    *Kisses*

Nice looking map! I'd love to play infection on something like this.

You should optimize this for something like infection or Slayer. its soo good looking and looks like it might work out by its layout for something like slayer. Granted you may need to remove grass and other stuff to make it function. What I say is duplicate the map and remove some details(grass, etc.) for functionality. Looks great! I can look over your terrain and give feedback but I don't think there will be much to give :).

Thank you all for the nice words. I would like to optimize this for infection however I'm not very good at balancing or making infection maps function properly. I'm just a guy that likes to make things look pretty. As for the fps.. They drop when you're on the beach but after you leave that area the fps increases and that problem disapears.

I will attempt to make this map Infection ready but no promises.

I checked this out in game just now, I have got to say, wow, you did a fantastic job. With the sounds, and the effects, and the nature, it is really something. Brings me back to the first level of halo 3. I really wish halo 5 would have kept up with at least doing 1 jungle level. But seriously awesome. You should team up with squid loaf and make at least a little puzzle or something to make it feel like this has some story connected to it.

I would like to add more to it. I'm going to mess around a bit more with this map, delete some things, and hopefully Marooned will make a decent infection map. :)

I was thinking, you may be able to make an assasination game out of this, or ive seen people do a type of invis hunter/infected/juggernaunt kind of gametype. may just have to make the end of your map loop back around

The only problem with this is the object count. There aren't enough pieces for everything to be as detailed and if there were, the frames would be unbearably low. I would LOVE to see another person warp this map into something that can function in customs however.
