I started this map trying to test my abilities. I wanted to create a highly competitive outdoor/indoor hybrid with mostly natural terrain and have it be beautiful, at least more beautiful than anything I've created yet.
Once I locked down the looks, I started to tackle gameplay balance and that's where the sh*t hit the fan!
The problem? I had a beautiful map that over-utilized teleporters and had segmentation issues.
Still, while testing we saw glimpses of greatness. So I sat down and redesigned. Tested. Redesigned again. Tested many more times, until it became a huge project.
But in Max Extra's - Forged Friday Lobby one very late night I saw what needed to be done and decided to sit down and rebuild.
Eureka! Just a short 4 hours later I built the competitive and beautiful map I wanted all along. Jarvik Prime now has a great flow, easy to read locations, fun engagements, and excellently utilizes the Halo 5 ability set.
The layout is unique and takes time to learn the intricacies, but people tell me they have enjoyed it more and more with every play through. It's balanced and tons of fun!
LORE:
Jarvik Prime is the name of the Warden in charge of Halo installation-09. Once Cortana released the A.I. from their duty Jarvik decided to flee the facility leaving the climate control in disarray. This led to glacier formations overnight and open lava pits forming right under green gardens.
