ICO is directly inspired by the video game with the same name by Fumido Ueda. While you play an abandoned boy in the original that tries to get this magical princess out of a castle, you now play a guardian.
A guardian, serving to keep the princess inside the castle.

Pitying her, one day, he tries to free her from this misery and the will of her mother...

This extraordinary puzzle map will play like none other you have played before in Halo. Just like in the original game, I tried to implement this special dynamic between the guardian and the princess with him being fast and agile and her being weak and having magical powers within.

This means you both have to work together in order to navigate through this castle and uncover hidden secrets and ancient mechanisms...

One is lost without the other. Escape.

There are moments you are able to peek and see the outside - how this dormant castle is put apart from a bigger island in the distance, only accessible through a long stone bridge above crushing waves.

For the rest of the map, I tried to convey this feeling of venturing through empty halls and hallways rotting away, but... still not crumbling with the magic within.

  1. Wow, so this was an epic map! You really have to explore, test different mechanics, and use your brain. It took my buddy and I two different sessions to get through. Some parkour, but nothing crazy. The 2 unique characters really changed up the puzzle dynamics.

The aura of the castle is just amazing. Really love the light effects and the overall flow of the castle linking into multiple rooms. A lot of time went into the effects and architecture. I haven't played many 2 player required coop since Reach, but it is an awesome and underrated genre. While I didn't play the original ICO game, this type of puzzle map could easily be made into a series based on its high quality.
