If you are looking for a fiesta map, do not look any further!
Coupled with a fiesta gametype, this map becomes chaotic really fast.
This map is a remake of a Halo 3 forged map called "Maze" where people were usually playing FFA Snipers. Even if it can sometimes be fun, this isn't quite the kind of gametype I enjoy during custom games. Therefore through the different Halo games, I started to add another floor to the map, play it with a fiesta gametype, add some vehicles and teleporters on the map, extent some areas, place some weapons and power-ups. And then came Halo 5 with its amazing forge which allowed me to create a theme to the map.
Hiromaze is an urban construction themed map which can be separated in three parts: the cargo area, the middle area and the courtyard.
The cargo area offers really close quater combat and does not allow too much mobility but gives easy access to the second floor of the map.
This area contains:
- a speed boost 3
- a Needler Warthog
- a Vorpal Talon variant of the Energy Sword
The middle area is little more open but still gives good enough access to the second floor. This is usually the area you want to be in to get rapid access to weapon pads and the Wasp.
This middle area contains:
Going through the smoky tunnel will send you to the second floor at a very high speed. Watch out for the cars passing through the tunnel!
- a camo 1
- a Splinter Turret
- a Grinder variant of the Gravity Hammer
- a Scattershot weapon pad with a Scourge of Fire attachment
- a default Wasp.
The courtyard offers a more open combat and gives you nice angles for your precision weapons but access to the other floor is pretty limited.
It contains:
- an overshield 3
- a damage boost 1
- a Boltshot weapon pad with a Void's Tear attachment
- a White Scar variant of the Plasma Caster
- a Typhon variant of the Hydra Launcher
- an ONI Gungoose
- a UNSC Turret
Vehicles being invincible with the Hiromaze gametype, you will be able to find three interactive switches on top of the teleporters that will damage all the vehicles on the map. Those switches will start to blink red when the Wasp respawns to remind you of their existence. It usually take three to four switch interactions to destroy the Wasp (it depends on how the Wasp's shield reacts).
If you are in a trolling mood and want to add even more chaos to the map, you can interact with the vending machine to send some kill balls on the map. The blue ones will send two plasma kill balls and the orange ones will send two classic kill balls jr.
The map has a limited third floor but you will only be able to access it via some specific lifts combined with your thrust or your ground pound.
Timed kill volumes are placed on spawns to prevent heavy spawn kill from people crouching in corners but it will still happen with the nature of the map.
Check this gameplay if you want to have a good idea of how the map plays (the map has been updated since then but it is still showing main features of the map):
