Map Description

  1. Sethiroth
    Introduction.

    Whats up Forgehub and welcome to Havoc. This map is designed to provide you with a breakout experience like no other. I personally have never like how default breakout played and while talking with my friend Solo XIII we wanted to see if its possible to design maps the play to the strength of breakout. The theory we wanted to explore is to design maps where a team could actually play the objective. This was done by placing the capture points much closer to the flag then normal to incentivize doing the objective. I also wanted to have the maps kinda force gun play by designing maps with key chokepoints. Looking at other games and how there single life gamemodes operate is where I started looking for inspiration. Gears of War and Counter Strike is where I started. A lot of the maps used the 3 lane method for design which seemed like a logical place to start. I also wanted the maps to fully compliment team work so that teams of 4 could create strats to do on the maps hopefully giving the map more longevity and to maximize the competitive nature of single life gamemodes.

    Map Overview.

    Havoc design was loosely based on a map called Clock Towers from Gears of War. I always liked the concept of the map but there where things I was not a fan of. So here is a overview of Clock Towers from Gears of War

    So this map had a High Side and a Low side. What I did like about the map was the Balcony area which was the high side. I love how strategic that area played. So i started with that but much more simple. I also liked the idea of a low flank area but what i didnt like about the map was there was no counter play to the top area of the map at all. Pretty much balcony only played with players on balcony. So what I did is add two br towers that could shoot up to the top area on each side of the map and a bridge that came from the top area over the middle section of the map. This help remedy the problems I had with the map and allowed the map to play more open instead of everyone just rushing the vary top of the map. In terms of visuals I went with the good ole fashion breakout look for this map.Havoc is my favorite breakout map out of the two that I made. Havoc has the ability to play as fast or as slow as you want it to. It really allows for tons of strats and playstyles. I hope you enjoy this map as much as I do. There is tons of secretes in this map from grenade points to movement tricks which allows for some super clutch plays like 1v3s but team work is always the best way to ensure victory.     Easily the best Breakout map currently in the game IMO.
