Glyph is my first Halo 3 map. My vision going into this map was something along the lines of "A symmetrical Guardian-esque map, with lots of curves and bridges." And in the end, my vision came to life... but not without struggle. Since I was mostly unfamiliar with H3 Forge, I had no idea what to expect from the budget, and how far I could push it. So I just went all in and started building away. On my first draft, I ran out of pieces when I was about 80% done with the map. I also had accidentally deleted some canvas pieces and knew I would need them in order to finish. So, my only choices were either to RESTART entirely, or try to complete what I had and settle for a crappy version of a map with so much more potential. So I took a break for about 2 weeks, and then set out to finish what I started. This time I knew what my limitations were, and I was much more cautious with my piece placement. I had to optimize absolutely everything in order to make this map work. About midway through this second draft, I realized there were some exploitable high ground spots that could not be made entirely inaccessible. So at this point I made the decision to raise the entire map to be at a level where these spots would be blocked by the invisible barrier of the skybox. I then continued forging and ended up with what you see here. I'm very happy with the way it turned out, and it couldn't have come to be if I hadn't had the faith to restart entirely, and rethink my approach.

    10/5,
Open, pretty big for a skybox map, fun and quirky jumps and angles, still feels competitive. Great map.
