4v4 Slayer

Map Description

  1. Foge
    Introduction


    Originally before beginning to make this map, I really wanted to nail down a room based map that played a bit differently than most. I wanted to attempt to blur the lines between a room based forge map, and a room based developer map.

    Making Genome


    The beginnings of this map had me constantly looking at layouts of chill out and cold storage, as well as some room based forge maps. I spent a decent amount of time trying to figure out what made these maps good and ultimately came up with this layout on some paper.

    Looking at this layout, it for the most part stayed quite similar with the exception of the teleporters getting cut, adding in some extra platforms, and filling in the bottom room.

    Nerdy Stuff


    With this map, I really wanted to have some spots that would help players that know what they are doing get around the map quicker, and also have some sneaky spots that could get some crazy sightlines. Here are those.

    Weapon Layout


    For the weapon layout, I really wanted the map to be free of any weapons some players may find “cheap” or such. The only power weapon on the map is a sniper rifle, so if you wanna win on this map, you better be good with it.

    Supported Gametypes


    Currently, Genome supports Team Slayer, FFA, Strongholds, and Oddball, with 8 players maximum.

    Thanks to everyone who play tested the map, I've been trying to iron this map out for the past month and I am happy I can finally let go of it.

    Nice! I'm going to check this out

    Edit: You realy make the map come alive with unuiqe assets, the walls and floors and 'dna' are great! The cealings are noisy and i can't say they look that great.

    The map was playing fine in my quick 6 player ffa i set up, i would like to see the floating platform added to break up the sightline at the top catwalk, having two adjacent cross map sightlines felt redundant going back and forth between the two with snipe.

    Thanks, I ended up ditching the platform early on because it was super easy to just drop down or get behind one of the walls and the platform would've just increased players ability to escape an already really powerful power position. I wanted to punish people for sitting up there, so giving them a sight line blocker there would've done the opposite. I will for sure check out the clip.

    I love the clash of green and black, it creates a very unique theme. The double helix looks fantastic as well! Have you considered adding textures to the floor? I also appreciate you taking the time to post many pictures, newer ForgeHub posters could learn a thing or two from you. ;)

    I was actually referring to textures, not the overlays. I didn't realize at first your walls are Forerunner, so having a metal floor is probably the best solution. All in all, excellent stuff and well thought out!
