Map Description

   "This battle has happened, it is happening and it will happen."

   Inspired by the Vex themes from the game Destiny, Gatelord is a core map built to sport modes ranging from 2v2 to 6 player FFA to 4v4 variants. Set in the complex spire ruins on Venus, players will navigate the time tattered structures of the Vex as they battle for power.

   Designed to pull the Vex theme into Halo, the map translates the linear, hallway based designs of the Vex into a map centered around vertical flow and quick engagements.

   Bringing the Vex to Halo
   ​

   For those unfamiliar with Destiny and by extension, the Vex, they are an advanced machine race with the capability to travel time. How they do so is a mystery and their ability to predict the future has made them out to be one of the most formidable foes in the game. The Vex are notorious for converting entire planets into huge computational machines. These large machine structures, once covered in stone and concrete have been exposed to the trials of time and as such, have weathered away to some degree. The goal of this map is to replicate that time worn architecture the Vex are so well known for and to install that same familiar feeling withing Halo 5.

   Inspirations
   ​

   Gatelord is inspire by the Vex locations seen on Venus, particularly the ruins of the Spire. The continuation of powerful beams and light flares set against the greenish tint of the sky and the towering spire structures aims to set you back on Venus, fighting where the Vex were first encountered.
