Map Description

Well where do I start? After the 2v2 contest and how it went, it left a sour taste in my mouth on the maps I created. I wanted more, I yearned to create more unique and fun layouts for halo 5. Each day I kept raising the stakes, not for fame or to be better than anyone else, but to simply satisfy my hunger to improve myself.
Brutalist was a stepping stone in the right direction and something I have come to be proud of, but I wasn't done yet.

Taking new ideas in lead me to realize how much information I tried to cram together in my head to formulate an idea, so I took a more simple route by building on two simple concepts; Guardian and Standoff. The idea seemed a little out of the ordinary, but what resulted was far more surprising than what I originally thought.

Fullmetal took hold of the bunker idea in creating power positions from lower area points and high points of the map could be countered through use of these bunker transitions. The true power is knowing where you will end up when you enter one of the bases, and knowing where to respond to call outs and how to manipulate the lines of sight to your advantage. Both individual skill and team play is encouraged when you make full use of the bunker combat to the line of sight control.

Weapon compliment encourages set up breaking interaction, with the hydra, rockets and H2 beam rifle it can effectively shut down a set up for those less-aware players. Ideally, areas promote flanking once you can asses the enemy's position. Red reticle range is well complimented as well with the pistol, virtually all lines of sight are within the range of pistol, making engagements feel comfortable and fair.

While Slayer plays interesting enough, the most exciting games have always been strongholds, something which has been a staple of the map. The Strongholds are set up in a 6 point system, a triangle of strongholds where you can control between each point of the triangle. Each point can be easily pinched without good team control, requiring a team to really dig down and work together to either make a push for a stronghold or to get control of the 3 individual set-ups.

    WEAPON COMPLIMENT

    Rockets - 1 spare clip - 120 seconds
    Sniper - 1 spare clip - 180 seconds (Overshield - 120 seconds for SH)
    Hyrda - 1 spare slip - 90 seconds (Camo - 120 seconds for SH)
    Battle rifle x 2 - 20 seconds - 2 spare clips
    Brute Plasma Rifle - 90 seconds - 50% power
    SMG - 1 spare clip - 90 seconds

The design has been enjoyable from top to bottom, but I am far from done. Keep you eyes out, I will continue to improve and hope to suprise you guys further. Till then, Forge on!

  1. Full Metal is by far your best map to date, and as always with your maps, it's exceptionally well put together. However, the map is not without its flaws.

While the aesthetics are very clean and believable, they're nothing particularly refreshing. This is Halo 5, and every other map out there (and the majority of dev maps) are UNSC aesthetic. It's over done and and incredibly stale at this point.

Pathing for the most part is pretty solid. There are a few nitpicks about it, mostly relating to the upper level on rocket side. The lift leading up there isn't readily apparent (I didn't notice it myself for the longest time), and neither is the actual path that leads directly up to the level either.

Those nitpicks aside, it's a pretty solid map. I wouldn't go so far as to call it great, but it's one I do enjoy playing and wouldn't mind it coming up regularly in custom lobbies. Solid 7/10. Well done.

    8/5,
Fullmetal is an exceptionally well designed map. It blends brisk competitive gameplay with unorthodox geometry to create a design worthy of standing beside traditional Halo maps. From its unique theme and construction to its nostalgic color palette, and even down to its name choice, this is xDemptions strongest offering in Halo 5 thus far.

This map gives me a slight hint of Outskirts/New Mombassa nostalgia...

EDIT: Nevermind that...Halo 3 feels more like it! Now all we need are Brutes with jet packs...

Looks awesome huge fan of the interior layouts and over lapping paths. This design will definitely inspire a few forgers, myself included. Nice work.

I'm not big on the whole review thing on this website, but after having another look at the map I felt the need to amend my score a bit. A lot of the artistic qualities of the map seem to have been cut to account for framerate, which is fine, but makes the map less visually impressive. Furthermore, I agree with @MultiLockOn in that the new path added beneath the pelican makes the flow of the map, and consequently that set piece, less interesting. The rock that used to jut out of the wall gave that corner additional character that now appears to be missing.

Anyway, it's still a solid map. I just preferred the version before release.
