Frontier is a inverse "symmetrical" map I've been working on that is designed for 2v2 gameplay. It started off on Parallax as a Chill-Out / Epitaph inspired map, but I realized I wanted to go in a different direction. Often with circular designs it's easy to create too much segmentation between the different layers, and I wanted to avoid making a convoluted room-based map. The final design is much more open, and many elements encourage upwards movement towards the center. The map takes its theme from concept art for Halo Reach as well as segment's of the mission 'Winter Contingency'. The circular design of the kivas on Reach were a match made in heaven for the type of design I was looking for. Originally it was supposed to be asymmetric, but I realized that since this might be for a contest, that a true competitive setting can get no more balanced than a symmetric map. There is some visual and slight geometric asymmetry, but not enough to give one team a distinct advantage. I will update this as the days go by, adding game types and making minor tweaks to the thread.
