Well, in all the time I've been playing Halo games that have Forge in them, this is the one and only map I've ever made. I put a lot into it, so I thought I'd let others see it as well and get some feedback.
Above all, I wanted to make a nature-themed map that looked as good as I could possibly make it ('cause that's how I roll!) It was originally planned to be significantly bigger and for 8v8 with heavy vehicles, but that wasn't going to work with the amount of detail I wanted to put in.
The map is more or less circular in shape. Teams spawn opposite each other on raised outcroppings that overlook the hilly terrain below. One side of the map has a rock slide and is a little more flat while the other side has a small ice field. The middle of the map is made up hills, trees, logs, rocks and bushes (and that's it!). Should it be used in a game of Slayer or any objective mode, the only cover you're going to get will come in the way of hills, trees, and rocks. There is only one man-made object in this map and that's a bridge that connects one of the bases to an island where I have a flag sitting.
Because I was focusing on the aesthetics more than anything, this map wasn't built with any game modes in mind. However, I have placed three strongholds on the map as well as two flag spawns at each base.
Weapons and Powerups on the map are as follows:
- 2x Halo 2 Battle Rifle
- 2x SMG
- 2x DMR
- 1x Sniper Rifle
- 1x SPNKr Rocket Launcher
- 1x Halo CE Pistol
- 6x Frag Grenade
- 2x Plasma Grenade
- 1x Camo
The map takes a long time to load up in Customs and Forge due to the Physics budget sitting at a healthy 99%. I imagine this is due in part to the large objects interlocking with each other. Maybe somebody who knows a lot more about Forge than I do can offer a way to lower than number a bit?
Like I said above, I don't make Forge maps at all and this is my first real attempt. Let me know what you think. Better yet, let me know what modes you think would work on it. I'm totally open to changing the weapon and objective locations if it means turning this into something playable.
Hope you enjoy!
