Foundry

4v4 Slayer

Map Description

  1. InvokingTexan
    "Foundry" is a strong recreation of the classic Halo 3 multiplayer map called, "Foundry." Built with replication in mind, this map attempts to reconcile every shape aspect of the original with the resources available; and, of course, it's accompanied by a refreshing new color scheme. Although compromises had to be made, and some design liberties taken, members of the "old school" will discover, to their delight, the fond experience they shared many years ago remains intact for this forge iteration.

    The map supports all current game types, and its subsidiaries: team slayer, capture the flag, strongholds, breakout (max 8 players), and free for fall (max 6 players). While traditional game settings, no sprint or thrusters/ stabilizers, are recommended, the map can still support the newest mechanics offered in Halo 5's sandbox.

    Notes: if you find anything wrong with the map, please drop a comment, so it can be updated. If you have enjoyed my work, please take the time to leave a comment or a review. Nothing short of "a labor of love" can best describe the dedication I poured into this classic Halo 3 recreation.

    Farewell, and best wishes, until next time,
    -Tex

    Thanks for the compliment, CK. And as for the original ceiling grenade bounces, I regret to inform you that "...compromises had to be made." ;_;

    I will say that the two sides and the opening windows could be abused very easily, I had a team sit in the room, one to man the switch and the rest to sit at the windows and we sat there for quite some time

    Balancing the home bases was one of my biggest concerns when recreating Foundry. Initially, I opted for a "manual override" switch for both home bases (windows), that would be located near the rocket launcher spawn; but I decided against it, as I deemed it counter-intuitive to game flow. I'll look at the options, and most likely settle for a delay timer script for the window switches. Believe it or not, there are actually four points of entry for players attacking a home base. It'll take some work, and maneuvering, but it's entirely feasible. It's very satisfying to get a plasma caster kill when a player is camping the red/ blue flag spawn from above.

    I was thinking of just leaving the bases open to climb into or something ^^

    I seriously contemplated for each home base to be fully enclosed, no ceiling gap or moving windows, and recreate the "window crouch jump" of the original version! ;D

    Also, do you also remember when "G4" or "Straight Ribbon" was a thing? Ha!

    Oh yeah, good times, I love the map overall and its a nice remake to see instead of just boxes, it now looks like an urban environment ^^

    I appreciate the kind words, Fatum. The industrialized, or urban, atmosphere was my intended vector of theme. And while I was tempted to incorporate the cargo container pieces, like in the Halo 3 version, as part of vital geometry, I decided against it... "for budget reasons." ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
