Map Description

  1. MidnightHinata
    This is a Recreation of the map Damnation from Halo combat Evolved everything has been built from the Ground Up to represent the original as closely as possible from the weapon placement all the way to the overall layout.

    Unfortunately there are some lighting bugs in this map however it is very playable and should pose no problems to gameplay. Please download and enjoy this map and let me know what you think down below constructive criticism is welcome and appreciated.

    Well forged map which although not 100% accurate to the original.
    The slight changes you've made complement the new faster pace of halo 5 .

    Immortal Joe says "mediocre".

    It's not bad, don't get me wrong, it's just.... very lacking. Lots of visible seams between pieces, and slight redundancy as you could cut back on pieces and as a result the seams. Scaling is wayyyyyy off. Map is much larger than it should be, and upping the player count will only make it worse because of how pathing and chokepoints work on it. Also, the lighting is most definitely too dark.

    As I said, it's not a bad map, but it's a long way from being good. Don't let this discourage you though. Tinker around with it some more. Play with pieces, try to consolidate them and get red of seams. Mess with the scaling, see if you cant get it to an acceptable size for 4v4s. And the lighting man, do something about that!

    This map is simply majestic. The atmosphere is familiar and fresh at the same time, capturing the feel of the original map and also creating his own.

    The only "problem" with the map is the 4x granades and the 2x shotguns. I know they were there in Halo:ce, but it's far better to adjust the weapon placement to the new installement of the series, with only one shotgun and a pair of nades.

    Disclaimer: This map is NOT a remaster, It very much resembles what it is based on, but due to my lack of ability to scale things properly i have made my own twist on the original map, I will update the level based on feedback. Thank you ^_^

    Damn this looks awesome, love all the industrial details you've done like pipes for the overshield lanes. Looking forward to walking through this later, I'll see how the lighting does. Have you tested the map at all? Also not sure where the elongation inspiration comes in; from the pictures it looks strictly dammy.

    I have not had the privilege of testing out this map with friends as none have the same interest in Halo as me, however I have Circled this map a bunch of times and know of improvements that can be made, The lighting is something I was getting enraged with as strange textures were popping up everywhere, I believe i have fixed a majority however the lighting seems to glitch in different locations every time the light is generated, This is a known bug.

    And the inspiration i took from Elongation was the way the map had its own unique look, it wasn't COMPLETELY a copy a damnation, i took this into account and added a few personal quirks of my own such as the industrial settings. I hope you enjoy walking around the map, please do return and give me your honest critique.

    Faster base movement speed, sprint, and bigger player models all contribute to difficulties in scaling. Even if it was scaled 1:1, it would play much smaller than the original anyway.

    Took a match here today. Your remake isn't bad at all. though I was never a fan of the original, You did some nice work.

    Took a walk around and I have several comments.

    Firstly, it looks awesome. Secondly, the bottom catwalks need to be cleaned up. I just don't think those invisible walls are a good solution to the pipes sticking out of the bridge pieces and it looks sort of messy. Would probably be better if you just lowered the pipes underneath and add 2 more bridge segments towards OS.

    Thirdly, you've listed this as 2v2 but running around and I can instantly tell that 2's would play really slow even with the original CE weapon set.

    Lastly, the spawning seems pretty sparse. There's really not all that many spawn points on the map and it seems as if it's really easy to manipulate.

    Need to get a game on here though.

    Thank you for the constructive critique, I have updated the map based on what you have said and also updated the map info, 2v2 was a mistake! Did not mean to make it that haha, Anyways if and when you have this match with your friends i hope you all have a blast!

    I couldn't have put it better than 'RegrettedKarma' The scale of the original was not tailored towards Halo 5's faster paced action and clamber movements, all this had to be addressed whilst creating the map. Also the slightly up scale nature of this map allowed more artistic freedom on my part, And i do like to make things pretty!

    GT: DarkestBump10 has uploaded this map on youtube under his name without giving credit, its not a big channel but as a message to other forgers i would advice keeping an eye out for the fraud.
