Map Description

  1. Partarar
Flak is a 2v2 competitive map set on a forerunner station shortly after a UNSC attack. The map supports core gametypes and is symmetrical.

    Weapons:
    Sniper Rifle (weapon pad)
    Speed Boost
    Scattershot
    Battle Rifle x2
    SMG x2
    Suppressor x2

    Edit:
So after going through and seeing other peoples map posts, I've decided to add some backstory to my map, what happened during development, and so on and so forth.

The map hasn't been in the works for very long, it's been about a week. I was looking for inspiration from some of my favorite maps and aesthetics from videogames, and I came up with two; Pantheon, a map from Destiny, and Haven, from Halo 4.

When I drew up the original plan it was much more Pantheon-esque. I didn't have a true middle lane from spawn to mid, and each teams spawn was more broken up. However, when I brought the map to life in forge, I felt it would play much better with a rout through the middle. Also, staying true to Pantheon, I kept the map level across most sight lines. This would make the sniper rifle a formidable weapon, just as it is used (overused) in Pantheon.

Originally the power weapon placed on the inside part of the map was a splinter turret, but that didn't compliment the fast pace of the map, especially when playing ctf. I messed around with an incineration cannon periodically, but that proved too powerful. When I changed it to a power up, I originally went with invisibility, but a friend recommended speed boost, and it ended up working really well.

Aesthetically, I was originally going to stick with a Haven forerunner sorta thing, but then I remembered promising a friend that I'd be doing a UNSC battleground aesthetic on an upcoming map. Thus, the crashed Pelicans and drop pods joined the shiny chrome and lights.

The lore behind the map is that the UNSC attempted to take several promethean outposts and failed rather miserably.

Hope everyone who plays on the map enjoys it!

    7/5,
This map flows very well in a 2v2 slayer. Its layout is very straightforward, simple, and understandable. The aesthetics are beautiful and capture forerunner style with grace and simplicity. The pathing is sufficiently scaled for Halo 5, and the routes are easy to discern. There is almost no verticality in this map, which is a bit of a negative in my book (especially in Halo 5). The lack of verticality and the simplicity of the layout discourage setting up, because there are not many positions worth defending strategically. That said, the map flows wonderfully. It's simply fast paced and rotation heavy.
